Is twice a day (morning/evening) at the gym okay/good if you do strength in first session and cardio in second, or is it always a bad idea? 4 sessions a week.

Depends on your goals. In general, there's nothing wrong with weights and cardio in the same day, especially considering that we mostly lead such inactive lifestyles that the gym is often our only cardio.

just make sure you do different things in each session throughout the week and not the exact same workout every day (and twice a day)

Thinking of doing this myself, jogging (light cardio) in the mornings, gym with weights and higher intensity cardio in the evenings.

Just until I reach ideal level of fat %

    +1.

Thats my plan for the summer. Jog every mornin, weights in afternoon then Muay Thai in the evening.

Will probably have to alternate between the three me thinks :/

why is it that you see posts of people 'thinking' about doing this but never any posts of people actually doing this.

How about posts from people who actually do this?

personally i regularly do cardio work (light and intervals on different days) and weights some other time in the day - rotating from metcons to strength focused sessions

Recovery is key though as if you are not eating really well and getting lots of sleep (not to mention foam rolling and stretching) you are likely to hit a brick wall after about 2 weeks or less

    Transform,

Sorry dude, should have made it clear. I was waiting to be sure that it wasn’t a terrible idea and wouldn’t leave me dead after a week, or negatively impact any progress I want to make.
Tomorrow morning is my first day of getting up at 6 (aaagh!) to do a forty minute jog (give or take as need to be ready for 7.30 bus to work)

Actually would you recommend something small before jog to eat, ie. banana, followed by porridge before leaving for the bus? (that’s the plan but I could have that arseways)

Cheers man, great info from your posts in the past!

Ok Transform your on. I'll start a fitness log with my stats, diet and exercise.

Oh and the reason i cant start now is because i have college and a job, so its hard to fit in 3 hours exercise throughout the day along with 7-8 hours sleep.

On recovery, after cardio, what is the best shake/meal to have to prevent muscle brake down and well aid recovery? protien/glutamine? glucosamine?

whey protein after workouts can help and i like to take 10g glutaimine with water on waking and going to bed

Overall, lack of sleep and poor nutrition will do more damage, as will doing too much training in every session.

3 hrs every day for training is wayyyy more than you need. I get by on 1.5hrs easy and this is my bloody job

I usually train twice a day, 3 times per week. I lift in the afternoon and have football in the evening. Otherwise I would be training 7x/week, and having a full a days rest makes a big difference.

Make sure to eat a lot more when you are training twice a day, and try and get some rest in between sessions
