Waterproofing a Cellar Door

I have a cellar door which sometimes gets wet at the bottom due to a drain becoming blocked. The door needs to be replaced now so I am looking for suggestions. What would be the best way of protecting the door? would Ronseal or something like that work? Any other ideas? Thanks danjo
