Montage

I'm not the best at editing but had some clips lying around and said I'd put them together.

Really not a big fan of adding extreme colour or slow motion 3rd person mode clips.

Let me know what you's think and what I can improve on.

Also, let me know if you don't like the choice of song, but I really can't stand every single video having pop/dubstep remixes... I want to experiment with 'unusual' music :)

Oh, and if you wouldn't mind going to youtube and voting on the video, thumbs up or down, I don't mind :)

    Cheers

    Tallon

nice enjoyable to watch, nice to see more use of the shotgun rather than the usual sniper.

    Hi tallon,

You asked what could be improved on so(btw i have watched some of your youtube content).......To be blunt, your montage was bad. Even though the editing was poor(no harm done there) im afraid it was just the general game play that lacked excitement, skill even. Many clips were just single snipes, not very exciting to watch IMO. One of your highlights was a triple predator. Not many people from the COD MW2 community enjoy watching air support kills, it takes very little skill.

Getting alot of kills in MW2 does not take much skill. MW2 is a race to get air support up. Whoever succeeds first usually wins.

Playing TDM in COD4 and getting +35 kills and less than five deaths takes skill. MW2 is noob friendly, scores like 23 -1 in TDM MW2 aren't impressive.

To sum up, your game-play needs to improve.

I thought a montage was supposed to have single snipes? Should it all be streaks?

It wasn't a 'highlight' it was part of the streak I was on so I said I'd include it. It's not like the whole video was airsupport!

Agreed, but as I said, this wasn't an airsupport Montage.

True, but MW2 is the flavour at the moment so thats kinda irrelavant.

Again, True, but this is a montage, nothing to do with scores, I dont think you see my score once ?!

I think my gameplay is fine, it's the editing and kills that I was asking for C&C on :)

Cheers for the feedback, much appreciated!

Ok, even the likes of me (and the lads here will be the first to tell ya I'm average at best) have been able to get the odd 30-10, 30-8 and even 30-3 once but...... I think your comments on the vid are a little harsh. He seems to consistently pull off scores in the 30-8/6 bracket which in my opinion is impressive.

Yes MW2 online as a game is a tad noobish as you put it. In a sense that if you can pull together a nice run to 5 kills, get lucky with a predator then call in air you can walk away with a game quite easily. Especially if its FFA. However, Tallons videos are quite frequent and he seems to come out on top most of the time. Dodgy commentary now and then but funny nonetheless :).

Was there alot of airsupport in this video? I seemed to have noticed a lot of streaks with shootguns and snipers. Which I think is something people who they are good at the game (with their scar-H/Aks etc) can't pull off that easily.

You must be Godlike at the game!

Just 3 points to make , Tallon usually doesnt do montages , i think the more he experiments with them the better the editing will get.

    Cod4 was also noob -friendly

I have been watching his videos from the start i see a big improvement in his sniping and overall general gameplay

First of all, a montage can have whatever you want in it. Personally I believe it should have the most special unique clips that you have. Are single snipes unique? Generally not, unless they are ridiculously far or a wallbang ect ect

Trilla said " You must be godlike at the game".
Telling you how good I think I am, especially without you see any of my gameplay verges on pointless. I could just lie through my teeth saying how good I am.
However, one weekend I won a fair few FFA games on the spin. 37 to be exact.

Anyway tallon, props to you for puttin something out there and being willing to listen to the criticism.

"noob friendly" what does that even mean? only great players should be allowed play? did you start off on 10th prestige getting nukes only with a knife or something?

Thing he's tryna say its easy to get a 7+ killstreak starting off, especially if you've played COD4 before. I never played it now, playing MW2 a fair bit the past 3 months. I can say safely say I'm still crap at the game but I know what he's saying here.

Ok, I look at it this way.
When I first got my xbox I got Gears of War 1 with it.
I had played shooters before so i wasnt terrible a games, just never MP online shooters.
Literally for the first 2 months i played that game I got my ass handed to me. I took time to develop skill to win gunfights and to get kills.

Now look at MW2, Danger close + noob tube = Pro withing 3 days.
If you played CoD 4 you would have noticed it took longer to die in that game, so generally speaking you could fight back and the better play could win.

You cant fight back in MW2

Course you can, for every perk or weapon theres a counter. danger close? riot shield and blast shield +c4 for the in close kill, you wouldnt believe how many people I've killed by equipping the shield, putting c4 on the ground in front of me, waiting for someone to come near me and hitting reload twice, boom, dead, with scavenger on you can keep replenishing your c4 with everyone you kill, and its easily countered with a semtex, just stick it to my riot shield and I'm done, thats just one simple example. for every noob who uses noobtubes theres a dozen better players who can take them out from across the map.

That song starts doing my head in after bout 30sec. Also im no editing expert but heres some tips on editing to music (personally)

Pick a song - rock works best or trance - happy hardcore is me no likey unless you can get a gem!

Usually in a song there are build-ups and bangs and softer moments - Vary your clips around the music and try to match explosions with beats and blast-beats, shortening or lengthening them to suit.

Clips done to any dance music should nearly be the same length or double the length (3sec clip, 3sec clip, 6sec clip, etc etc) If you have a good length clip that ends in spectacular fashion use the length in the build-up process and match the moments

When looking at time scale dont try to fill in video from left to right - leave gaps and fill them later with funny moments or maybe a montage of challenges completed like misery loves company or whatever.

    Just some tips -

    A

When i first saw it first last night the quality was ****e but i guess it wasn't rendered properly (is that what you call it?) but watching it again it was good.

I liked the streaks with the spas, good to see different weapons than all snipes. The claymore kill was gas, maybe more clips like that and a few throwing knifes to mix things up? Definately keep the snipe clips though but just not all snipes for the whole montage.

Can i request some Metallica for the music of a clip? :D I remember you having them for a intro before. I like the varied music though rather than just the one genre.

Keep the visual editing simple, it's annoying watching some vids and your worried your going to have a epileptic fit from all the flashing effects and false colours.

I think he means that basically you are dead in 2-3 bullets most of the time, so can't react to shoot back at your attacker. Whereas in COD4, it took longer to kill you so if you had quick reactions you could evade the attack and then kill the other person.

Jesus man, a bit harsh there !!!
I think it's great to see an Irish gamer putting vids up.
Fair play to him, and he's very good at the game so has a lot of tips to offer (once he stops waffling) !!!!
But its the waffling that makes them enjoyable to watch !

Sure he can improve on his editing technique but other than that I don't think your comments were constructive or fair mate.
