    live on sky sports 1
Aston Villa are set to be boosted by the availability of Stiliyan Petrov, Richard Dunne and Stephen Warnock for Sunday’s showdown against Birmingham City at St Andrew’s. The trio were all injured in Villa’s 2-0 win at Hull City on Wednesday. Petrov has been under treatment for a groin problem that forced him off in the closing stages against Hull. Dunne suffered a gashed head in a collision with Hull striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, while Warnock picked up an ankle problem. But the three are expected to be fit with manager Martin O’Neill likely to retain the side that started at Hull.

Birmingham strikers Cameron Jerome and James McFadden have been passed fit for the derby clash at Aston Villa on Sunday. Jerome, City’s leading scorer with 10 goals, has shaken off a back problem which has troubled him in recent weeks. McFadden was substituted with a groin strain during the goalless home draw with Hull last weekend but has recovered and resumed training.

Aston Villa (from): Friedel, Guzan, Cuellar, L Young, Beye, Dunne, Collins, Warnock, Downing, Reo-Coker, Milner, Petrov, Sidwell, A Young, Carew, Agbonlahor, Heskey, Delfouneso, Davies, Albrighton, Clark.

Birmingham City (from): Hart, Carr, Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Gardner, Ferguson, Bowyer, Fahey, Jerome, McFadden, Larsson, Phillips, Taylor, Benitez, Michel, Parnaby, Vignal.

    looking forward to this

I've a sneaking feeling Birmingham will take something from this.

    Going for a 1-1 draw.

Wow! Never would have predicted that lineup!

Now that's not fair, Clark might have made the bench

Quietly confident about this game - I predict 3-1 to Villa!

What are the odds of Heskey coming off the bench to put this game to bed against his former club? Stranger things have happened :p

More likely Phillips to come on and grab a goal.

    What a save by Hart.

Now quite sure why Birmingham were happy to stand still when the ball was cleared after the corner, you'd think they'd push up!

Carew not playing great, he needs to release the ball quicker.

Interesting statistic there, if Villa win today then they will be the first team to win 6 consecutive Second City Derby games in a row in the 100+ history of games between the two teams.

We got lucky in the end with the peno, there was a touch but it did take me about 3 views to see it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,535 ✭✭✭Raekwon

Massive win for Villa! We got the rub of the green today because Birmingham played out of their skins and threw everything but the kitchen sink at us but Collins, Dunne & Freidel were eminence at the back today.

That's put a huge smile on my face! :D

Excellent stuff, Villa tired after 3 games in a week but still enough to show blues who's boss.
