Girls who pretend to like something just because their new boyfriends like it

Lots of times, sitting in a bar watching a match, a couple will be sitting alongside, and you hear the girl asking questions on football......"why are they all going that way" "why can he handle it and the rest not?", etc etc

Do people find it nice that they are taking an interest in something you like? Or is it stupid?

Its happened me and i think its a bit silly. I dont like women who think they need to change themselved. If they liked football, or whatever the subject of interest is, they would have liked it before they met me.
I think girls who just be themselves and stand by their likes, and dislikes are much more genuine.

Have you really heard a girl asking those two questions? I find it mad that someone, no matter how little they know about football not knowing what a goalie is or what direction teams play in...

Football is stupid and she is just highlighting that fact by asking stupid questions.

If they liked football, or whatever the subject of interest is, they would have liked it before they met me.

Or maybe they just never sat down and watched a game before.

Now that they have decided to spend some time with you, doing a think you like to do, they're asking questions so as they can understand a) Where you're coming from (Why do you like this team so much? etc.) and/or b) How the game works so as to make it more enjoyable.

No harm in that at all.

Ps. Doesn't it make you look very cool and smart when you can answer the questions? Yes, you love it.

I've never watched football with a female that is that dense to be honest.

It's always good to take an interest in your OH's hobbys, even if you didn't before

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

I agree with that. But it is amazing that someone would know so little about football in a country that is saturated with the stuff. Even if you hate it, it's hard to get away from it.

i was watching Arsenal in the Champion league's final a few years back and i was with a girl who wanted to go out to her mates for a dinner date told her to get of my house. Unless she's interested i won't have her ruining my time

They are just trying to get some action. no biggie.

We would all do the same if it was going to get us laid.

I always though football was a pretty dense game for dense people, tbh.

Maybe she was just trying to compromise or dumb down for the event?

I know a girl, 20 minutes into a match (at the stadium) goes "So when does it start?"

    Women ;)

    It's harmless.

The only reason someone would do it is too try and make you like them.

    Tis cute.

I wouldn't have given a sh*te about football before going out with my OH and yes, I did ask questions to understand everything. I knew what offside was and stuff but other little things I didn't know. I took an interest becuase he loves it and went to support him when he was playing. Now I care more about most of the fixtures than he does and know more football trivia.

They're not stupid for asking, they'd be more stupid if they sat there and pretended they knew what was going on. My OH loves having post match analysis chats with me now!

It's the same as blokes who don't leave the room when their girlfriends put some braindead ****e like Glee or Desperate Housewives on. You do so because keeping him or her happy by pretending to be interested in something they like means you're more likely to get laid.

I would have included Grey's Anatomy, but that's too a step too far. I'd rather be lonely and alone than have to suffer though that televisual vomit.

I once pretended to like Michael Jackson beacuse of a girl I liked.
Turned out to be a great idea, we went to see him in Cork , still to this day the best concert I have ever been to. We were together for 5 years. We also have a beautiful daughter , who is my best mate in the world. So I guess it's not all bad.

Regardless of the subject matter and her knowledge or lack of, it at least she is giving the new boyfriend her attention rather than somebody else .

Don't see the problem? Many men pretend to like things women like just to get on, eg marraige, having children etc

Its all a ruse, they are really changing you and you think they are the ones that have changed just because they pretend to have an interest in something you like.

I don't see a problem with it at all OP. I wouldn't have a huge interest in football but if I was with a guy who did, and he wanted to go out to the pub and watch it, then I'd happily oblige and may even throw in a comment or two, just to show I'm interested. Better than sitting there bored! Likewise, I'd expect him to sit through an episode of America's Next Top Model if that's what I wanted to do :D

Do ya not think its nice for other half to take an interest in their partner - it doesnt mean they are changing themselves - they are compromising - which is what relationships are about.

If it wasnt for my fiance I wouldn't have known anything bout gaa!

whereas he watches girlie programs with me no questions asked

'She pretends she wants to go, and then you go to the movie, and all she does is huff and complain all the time. "Hey, thats Optimus Prime. Show some respect."

And then she gets all pissy when Megan Fox is on the screen like "Ugh, she's so unbelievable" .... Really?! A transforming Alien Robot Truck you'll believe, but you draw the line at Megan Fox. '

I always just say it to them ''hey are you really interested in this game? or are you just taken interest to please me? you dont really need to do that you know, I love you for who you are '' etc etcand if she gets upset and runs off, then thats a good thing for me, as I then know she is not the right one for me.
