Well ... from reports Funaki was pretty good friends with Shawn Michaels through the last few years, and that protected him to a degree. I'd imagine now that old HBK isn't on the scene any more there was less reasons to keep Funaki around

That's what I'm hoping. Tag division in TNA is already pretty dang good, world's greatest tag team would push it over the edge.

Not sure if its been mentioned yet ... but there's rumours Matt Hardy is for the chop too .... rumours he has fueled on twitter with tweets like :

"After 13 title reigns during my WWE career, I've more than exceeded what anyone ever expected from me-& I'm optimistic there's more to come."

"But I truly feel that I'll actually have more to offer to the industry with my mind than I could physically with my body in the long run..

"I have alot of projects going on currently.. But I love pro wrestling & it will always be in my blood. Always. It's given me a great life."

"You guys give me the motivation to push on with or without the help of the "machine".. I pride myself on being the "Self-Made Superstar""

Certainly I think it would be best for his career to go to TNA.

With Angle taking a few months off and Shelton probably not able to compete for 90 days, Team Angle could show up on TNA in a few weeks. Would be a great coup for TNA and could lead to some great storylines for them

I wonder is that matt trying to work the IWC again? But I'd love to see him in TNA and would honestly pay good money to see Matt and Jeff vs the MCMG or the Bucks or even a few more with the Dudleys

Tbh, I'm expecting Hardy to get his release soon. That tweet(s) added with Jeff and Shannon Moore pushing for him to go to TNA.

Maybe it's just me, but that sounds more like he's going to stop wrestling and work backstage for WWE. Especially the bit about having more to offer the industry with his mind than his body. If a guy like him wanted to work backstage for a wrestling company, surely his best bet would be WWE than TNA

Hasn't Matt just started a feud with Drew for the IC title?

He is really over with the crowd its a shame if he is let go but saying that I would love to see a Hardy Boyz reunion on TNA against MCMG

I agree with him on that. Right now, he's a total mess physically. He either needs to recuperate from the stomach injury that troubled him last year and led to his initial weight gain, get off his backside and get in shape, or pack it in.

I'd say the one thing that saved Matt Hardy from the chop yesterday was the fact that he's in an NXT storyline as the mentor of a promising prospect (Justin Gabriel). Wouldn't be surprised if he gets canned once NXT finishes up.

90 days away from active wrestling could do him a lot of good, and he'd be a good addition to TNA if he gets physically ok.

Even if he isn't and needs to quit, he could contribute as a road agent somewhere. Though he never seemed able to hold a crowd with his promos (remember the god-awful Edge one?), he's more than capable of putting an engaging match together.

he's very good at making Vince's pet projects look better then they are and i can't imagine Vince would want to give tna a chance to reunite the Hardy Boys, so he may be staying around for a while. He does need to lose weight and stay off the internet though. :o

Matt Hardy is always whining on his Twitter and has tried to create fake news stories before, i wouldnt take too much notice

Vince would probably happily keep him on just to stop a hardy bros reunion drawing in TNA

I've always thought McMahon had a soft spot for Matt Hardy. Sure he got fired for being cheated on by Lita, but the one thing Hardy's always had over his brother is his dedication.

And those tweets are probably just tying in to his McIntyre concussion angle.

I always thought the opposite, actually. McMahon begrudgingly brought back Hardy in 2005. He confiscated Hardy signs and dubbed over the crowd on SD! when he was away....He knows Matt's dream is to have any kind of job in WWE and has never really pushed Matt; the sensible, better wrestler than Jeff. I hope Matt does go to TNA, because he's not likely to get another WWE push anytime soon and can be use to TNA.

(His face turn with Hardy was really awful; way to kill his heel push...)

For his career it could be argued as some have said he could use a move to go to the next level but is he really good enough for the next level? I like the guy but he has never really wowed me even though back in the beginning i thought he could be the main eventer of the Hardys. Even if he went to TNA would he not just be seen as the lesser Hardy. Although a Hardy Boyz reunion in TNA would be great for TNA and would def cement the fact that the TNA's tag divison is much better than the WWE's, would it be anyt good for The Hardys? would it not be a step back and once more a step further away from main eventing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,030 ✭✭✭jpb1974

I think a lot of people are still recovering from the boredom of the Main Event Mafia... I'd like to see Angle go it alone for a while rather than having another Angle lead stable.

Matt Hardy has been around a long, long time. I feel he needs to take a year off and come back fresh.

Matt's biggest problem is that you can't help but think of Jeff when you hear Matt Hardy's name... and lets face it... Jeff is way more exciting... Matt borders on boring sometimes.

Matt needs Jeff much more than Jeff needs Matt. Matt like Christian, Kane and Shelton will float around in the uppercard for the rest of their careers, the sooner the Internet accept this, the better for everyone.

I think Matt should just take time off.

If he can heal up and take time out to get back in shape he can be a real asset to a wrestling company.

He doesn't have to be a world champ to be an asset but at the same time in WWE its not that big of a leap anymore to become the WHC. WWE don't mind putting the big gold belt on a non mega superstar.

The following is a new tweet from the official Twitter page of WWE Superstar Matt Hardy:
"Sorry I couldn't wrestle on Raw last night due to my head injury caused by that reckless bastard Drew McIntyre.. Looks like I'm gonna be out of the ring for a couple weeks. I apologize to my fans for that. I just hope I'm cleared & they allow me to get back in a WWE ring soon."

Sorry for the major bump but I just saw this on PWInsider:
WWE Smackdown star Matt Hardy was sent home from the ongoing WWE tour of Europe today, sources within WWE have confirmed.

There was concern about Hardy's condition that manifested themselves backstage at an event on the tour yesterday.

Those issues follow an incident at last week's house show in White Plains, New York where Hardy was scheduled to team with R-Truth against CM Punk and Luke Gallows. Sources indicate there was concern about Hardy's condition at that event as well. Hardy was said to have left the show after officials spoke to him and never returned, not working the house show.

I dunno if it's been said but Matt Hardy is a real c*nt for working the internet crowd with his BS misleading tweets. I would regard his internet/media posts with about as much validity as that coming from Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle. The guy's full of sh!t pretty much all the time.

+1. When I started watching wrestling again, I had huge reserves of respect for Matt Hardy and was amazed that he hadn't gone further. But nowadays he's just a fat man-child with an overly developed sense of his own worth.

Given the trend of wrestler's dying nowadays it really does make one fear the worst.

    Source:
Robert Zimmerman, who is in charge of U.S./Canada media inquiries for WWE, confirmed with Wrestleview.com this afternoon that the original comment issued to Newsday by a WWE spokesperson was indeed official information coming from the company regarding Matt Hardy being pulled from two separate WWE events recently (one in White Plains, New York on September 5 and the other on the last stop in England this past weekend).

The Wrestling Observer, which later admitted that using the "sent home" terminology in reports on Sunday was wrong but not completely off base, reported today that Hardy is on pretty thin ice with the company after his video blog tirade. We're told there was some against releasing Hardy right away in fear of a Hardy's reunion in TNA, but after his comments on the video and his actions of late it seemed like appropriate action.

Unfortunate for him though that Matt rhymes with Fat. Lends itself so well to saying things like WWE will eventually get tired of this Fattiude etc.

Matt Hardy just posted the following on twitter:

"Here's a quick hello to all my people & a reassurance to everyone that I'm fine, healthy, & in good spirits. Thx for all of your support. When the time is right, I'll put everything out there as far as what "really" went down. I know I have to protect me & my brand, & I will. I appreciate my fans so much that I'll always be honest with them, & the whole story certainly isn't out there now. I appreciate all of the things the WWE has done 4 me in the past, they have been gracious to me-but now, it's decision time for me. Thx all."

It's such a shame, I always said Matt was the more talented Hardy, but he turned into a mark for himself over the years, and a bitter one at that. It's lead to him never been able to break that glass ceiling since he has become more of a burden for the WWE more than anything.

The video blog was easily the most unprofessional thing he has done I think. I mean if the company sends you home then deal with it, don't post a video on ****ing Youtube telling people you're ok , not sent home and, more importantly, breaking ****ing kayfabe while you work in the WWE of all places. Many wrestlers before him have been sent home, and I can't recall them ever going public about it and lie about it in public, at least not while they were under contract.

If I was Vince I'd fire him. Get him off TV and let someone who actaully wants the spot take it. It's not like he'll make TNA take WWEs place as the number 1 company. Plus if Jeff does go to jail then he can't even cash in on the Hardy Boyz reuniting.

I'd do the same. His best years are behind him and, even though he's still well over with the crowd, he's going to become a negative influence. The none-too-subtle allusion to "a certain nosey PUNK", for me, would be a much bigger warning signal than his rant against inaccurate reporting. They've a lot of new stars coming through, many of whom would be right at home on SD - give them the ball and let them run with it.

Even if he went to TNA, it's not like The Hardy's are going to become tag champs. They might tag occasionally, but TNA will want to push Jeff more as a singles competitor. If Matt Hardy went to TNA, he'd still be a midcarder. I liked the guy, but he missed the boat. And these videos aren't going to endear him to any company that would take him

Reading this thread reminds me of how some Spidey fans used to rant about Tobey Maguire putting on a few pounds between films as if he was obese or something.

Matt is out of shape, but nothing 1 or 2 months of dedication in the gym won't sort out.

People really tend to over react sometimes.

afaik according to Matt his problems with weight stem from an inability to hit the gym seriously due to a number of nagging injuries he has.

It's believed that WWE officials held a conference call earlier this afternoon to discuss Matt Hardy's future with the company. No word yet on what happened.

The feeling is that WWE will keep Hardy on the roster as long as he agrees to some rules and stipulations from the company. Word is that a lot of people backstage are upset with Hardy's recent actions and some talent want him to be released, or at least think he should be released.

WWE creative has apparently been told that Hardy would not be booked in the foreseeable future.
