Ok I started a FAS course last week, tuesday 13th to be exact. The course started on the monday the 12th, but I got a phonecall that day to tell me a place had come up, and I took it.

I got the form from FAS and took it to the social welfare office the same tuesday, it was filled in and I was signed off the dole. The man told me that I could still collect my full payment as normal the next day, and then this week I'd be getting the FAS allowance into my bank a/c. I promptly got my €196 the next day.

Today I got my first FAS payment, for the amount of €153.19. When I queried it, I was told that I only "worked" four days last week, having started on the tuesday. I went to the post office to check if there was any dole payment, and there was not.

So basically, between FAS and the Social Welfare, I have been left €40 odd short over the last 2 weeks during the switch over. I should have received €392 in total from last week and this week, but have only received €349.

I have a feeling that its the Social welfare thats responsible for the missing amount, but can anyone advise me whats the best course of action? I know its only €43, but €43 is €43 that I'm entitled too. I don't see why I should be penalised for trying to get back into employment by increasing my skill set.
