ATH knockout syle: the great PW Debate (brackets in the OP & voting open to all)

Okay so a while ago it was suggested in the post draft ideas thread that I brought back some form of my ATH (Around The Horn) game, so here it is the new version of ATH knockout style!


16 entrants, paired up like in KOTR syle brackets. We may have 2 threads if this gets a good response, one for matches to take place with a ATH style question (example: who is the most underutilised wrestler on the WWE roster and what do you think should be done with them?) being discussed by the two competitors with the usual rules whilst the other competitors vote in a secret poll to decide the winner. The other is a discussion thread like with the draft where people can discuss the peoples responses to the questions and each others arguements. each match up could be given an amount of time (1/2 days) and the thread title could be constantley updated to show who is in a match up for that day.

this thread can potentially be turned into the discussion thread eventually if it gets that response but for now its is for just that to see how much interest there is and how many people want to sign up to fill the below spots.

What is Around The Horn you say? well here is the explanation i usually included when i used to run the standerd version of this game on here.

Around The Horn(ATH) is an american show on ESPN where a number of panelists/experts make arguments an a certain topic. The host awards points for each response depending on how well argued their point is, not neccesarily if he agrees with their point (although that helps) but how well they back up their argument. Obviously the winner is the person with the highest number of points at the end of the show. This format should work quite well here if anyone is interested, afterall there are a number of people here who like to think of themselves as experts on all things wrestling related, here is a chance to prove it.

the normal rules of ATH that will still aply althiough obviously the vote and not the host (me, though ill still get a vote) will decide who progresses through each round:

I will post a topic and you have to post your response including why you made that choice within a given time limit (before the next match is scheduled to begin), take care while making your responses however as the other contestant can counter your arguement i.e pointing out possible flaws in what youve said.

*you can only counter an arguement once we will say twice as it is only 2 people. If someone's defense of their arguement isnt good it will count against them.

*You can use the same answer as your opponent if you wish i.e you agree with their choice however its hard to win a debate when your making the same points someone has already made

Well .... you can count me in anyway. Can't remember who was my co-champion (I was champ, he was co-champ) .... maybe we should be given byes into the second round (like Hogan / Andre at wrestlemania 4!).

Degag makes it 5/16 potential spots gone, to be honest i usually keep the questions fairly general so that everyone can atleast submit some sort of answer. This is also the reason that the vast majority of my questions are generally about the WWF/E, but there may be occasions where i mix it up i guess dependant on who is paired up and how much i know about their wrestling background

alright after this weekend ill make the draw then we can look at setting a date for the first match up, depending on how many others sign up by then we could be looking at a number of byes.

ok with an eneven number we are looking at some byes into latter rounds. As current Co-Champions Catus Col & Gimmick are recieving byes (and facing each other in the 2nd round) as is Flahavaj as the only previous draft winner involved. The winner of one of the first round ties (picked at random) will also recieve a bye in the 2nd round.

the winner of your match gets a bye to the next round thought with D2D pulling out (I could just rearrange your draw so that you dont go for quite a while) I will have to alter the draw again so until i get back from work and do that im opening up the game for late entree's to the competition/game

ill wait to see if D2D wants to have his match re-aranged to a later time and until then accept late entries for now but will sort out some form of this soon so that we can see match ups like Jolt vs Volt... may even move this tie up to first if the thrash talk continues and D2D would like to continue in a different slot (with a couple of days per match up inc votes any current problems may not be an issue if his match is not for a week or so).

well i offered D2D the option to just have his match up re-organised to when he has his computer running alright. Until he replies im keeping it open for new participants (inc someone who could potentially fill his spot) and when he does or if it takes too long I will draw up a new set of brackets considering the amount of entrants but try to keep the lineups similar (Volty vs Jolt).
