Ah stop looking for praise, do you not realise how broke we all are after buying all the other alerts you've posted, I don't need another BR player in the house, I don't need a MKV player, but I'm thinking of getting it for the bedroom.

Cheers, now where's that credit card gone to............

Interesting player, but how do you get around the 2GB size? MKV's are around 6-12GB's

Looks like a great deal, waiting on my wd tv live to arrive. Not sure if I really need a blu ray player as well, although I had been looking at them.

Can someone convince me either way?

That way I can blame it on you. :)

Found this with a quick google search:
    Multiregion Settings
With no disc in the tray & tray closed - enter 973502 and press enter - this provides multiregion DVD and region B bluray playback.

With no disc in the tray & tray closed - enter 973501 and press enter - this provides multiregion DVD and region A bluray playback.

Simply change the second to last number to represent the region code of DVD and the last number to represent Bluray code.

Ah - it's the Momitsu - I got one from the US a couple of weeks ago
You can region 0 the DVD playback easily enough - though I'm still trying to see if I can get my remote to automatically do the region setting on the bluray for me ..

I haven't tried using an actual hard drive with mine, but it would take USB flash drive .. maybe check the manual?

Well.. you could split (as has been mentioned).

But 720p TV shows are between a 1GB and 1.5GB (depending on length obviously), so you'd be sorted there.

Tempted to order one for the 720P telly in the bedroom.... hmmm!

Please tell me they aren't suggesting the ethernet port can only be used for firmware updates?

No, its for BD-Live functionality, which is part of the Profile 2.0 spec.

Suspect it only supports FAT32 then ...

Wouldn't be bothered to be honest, splitting and arsing around with files is just a pain.

Its possible it supports NTFS and its just not documented (like my LG 5.1 system can play any size MKV file but states that 2GB is max due to it only officially supporting FAT32)

Could someone try it and report back maybe ;)

Ah I just paid €100 for the LG player in Tesco... thought that was a great deal! :o

Although it has the USB playback feature aswel which I tried out the other night. I haven't tried an mkv on it yet though...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭dave13

tried a few MKV and AVI files on this last night, worked great. Havent tried a large MKV file yet though. The HD MKV files look great through the HDMI connection.Awaiting my Band of Brothers bluray to give that a go.

Plugged mine in and tried 'The Dark Knight' and it gave me some error about needing to update BD Live.. is it because it wasn't networked?

Looks like a good player with loads of features. Thanks for the heads up.:D
