Hey guys, I'm beginning the starting strength program this week.
I've been lifting weights for the past few months, but I haven't noticed the results or gains I envisaged. I hope the starting strength program will give my training more structure and regularity and hopefully give me the strength gains I'm looking for.
I'm just looking to know your thoughts and expoerience on the starting strength program, any feedback greatly appreciated, thanks.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Gains take time. I usually up the weight by 2.5kg every 2 sessions.

    Bench: 70 - 87.5
    Press: 35 - 52.5
    Squat: 60 - 95
    Deadlift: 60 - 105

Don't think i would have made gains that big from any other program i know of.

Its fairly good for getting your lifts up quickly, just dont add in lots of other exercises.

Adding in lots of assistance is likely to affect your gains, although Id do some sort of row or upper back exercise to balance out the pressing.

Id recommend it though, simple and effective.

Great great program. Put on about 8 kilos in 14 weeks. Lifts went way up.

    Bench 60kgs - 77.5kgs

    squat - 80kgs - 107.5kgs

    deadlift 95kgs - 135kgs

Highly recommend it. Eat lots. Drink lots of milk and just keep putting weight on the bar.
Get the book and read it properly..
I underestimated doing this but when I got the book, I realised how wrong my form was. Sorted it out. Seriously - get the book!

    Its frickin epic.

Buy the Book, as Coleman said.
Not only for the programme but because its a excellent manual on a great number of exercises.
