Would you mod AH?

Spilling over from the discussion on the topic of the off-topic topic, which is so topical at the moment, the issue of new mods for AH came up.

One argument against this thread would be the increased need for mods, extra workload and so on, and it was stated that mods are hard to find.

I countered this saying that many posters in this forum volunteer any time the option is given, but conceded that good mods are harder to find.

So I thought I'd put this out there, to take up the extra work an off-topic thread would add, and to ensure its existence, would you mod AH?


I wouldn't, I am not a regular poster here, and hate many of the topics discussed, and I'd be a tyrant, not in keeping with the tone of AH, and as boards.ie's biggest draw to new posters, this forum is vital to keep it fun and in check.

Would you mod AH? Why would you be good? Would you be terrible? Would you impose a totalitarian regime?

Poll to come, we all love polls. Edit: I think I fecked up adding a poll, could a mod add one, oh the irony.

Although I strongly disagree with some folk here, I can see their points and must always allow them to hold their views. They have their reason for such.
With that in mind, even though I'd disagree with them about something, if they stayed within the adopted forum rules - I'd be fair to all.

I'm not without sin or error myself.

I'm quite a fair person TBH, there is literally one topic where I probably would not be able to keep myself fair. And for that I would stay clear whenever it comes up.

Other than that, yeah, I could.

Pity they will never ask me...being a sexual deviant and all.

As my whole life revolves round making stupid comments, I don't think that I could abandon that annoying (to other people:pac:) trait, unless I was allowed to make stupid comments when banning people.

I would only Mod a forum if I was chosen by Admin on the basis of a Poll from that forum's regulars.

It's what I believe should happen on all forums across Boards.

i only read about one third or one quarter of the threads in AH, most of them dont interest me at all, so i'd consider modding it a chore

This is what I'm talking about, the few threads I do read, Biggins always has a good post to make, there are good people willing to step up, and you sir, are one of the good ones for sure.

This is a social forum, the Film Forum is a serious discussion forum, they would require totally diffent modding styles.

That said my favourite mod here was TheZohan so popular can work.

In answer to the OP's question, no. Seeing the amount of headache this forum causes the mods, Lucifer would have to buy a bit more heating oil before I'd even consider being an AH mod. Or any mod.

I too have heard this exact rumour! In fact I heard from a reliable source that there are real mod Groupies who like to get off with mods!

It stands to reason that AH mod is highest on the pecking order!

It must be such a relief for ex AH mods to walk away from the job, I'd say its a complete head melter. I think I'd lose the will to live after one day, so thats a big fat no from me. I enjoy posting as a reg'd user too much.

The next mod or mods should be AH users imo. URL was a great choice. I think it was a mistake to have looked over him last time. It'd be great if dr.b retook his post too. I also think Biggins would be a good addition.
There are probably a handful of others that I can't think of at the mo.
