A draw at the weekend and now tonight's result against Inter?

I think it's safe to say the golden era for Barca is well and truly over.

Hahahah. :p You started the thread for their first domestic loss of the season too didn't you. Fairplay mate, cheered me up a bit.

    I agree wholeheartedly.

While we're at it, let's get rid of Wenger after losing his last two games. :D

    Alves - Nothing Player
    Puyol - Nothing Player
    Pique - Headbanger
    Busquets - Nothing Player
Xavi - Fat and a Clown. A Fat Clown for all to see.
    Messi - Too tippy tappy.

    Everyone OUT.

Told you they were overrated. Messi showed that he is just a flash in the pan.

was actually thinking of a thread like this myself :)

In fairness they have been hyped beyond anything I've ever seen and something like this was gonna happen sooner or later.

    Are inter and Mourinho done?
Can't believe they only put three past a piss poor Barca team :pac:

To be honest Barcelona were the architects of their own downfall tonight.
Guardiola's huge gamble of paying over €70m for Ibrahimovich last summer has proved to be a calamitous error as many people highly expected .
With the funds Mourinho got from that deal he bought Eto,Milito,Lucio,Motta and Sneijder and still had a few pound left over.
I remember thinking at the time that Mourinho was a shrewd shrewd guy and couldnt believe his luck.
5 players for Ibrahimovich ,madness, and I wouldnt mind but the guy is useless.

Isn't it a view that Guardiola has no intention of staying Barcas manager beyond the next year or two?

    Agreed.
And I'll only rate Messi when he gets up after a two footed studs up sliding challenge from both Matt Taylor and Ryan Shawcross.....at the same time, sandwich style.

    Mhmm, his Barca managerial project is a short term thing. The amount of work he puts in is ridiculous, he'd burn out if he kept it up (apparently). After Barca he wants to take a year or so out to be with his family, you can kinda see how much he's bloody aged even in two seasons;

    Exactly......winter breaks?.......try Sunderland in January.....winter leg break.....Messi wouldn't make the Wolves bench.

does anyone else think the likes of pique are slightly over rated

I heard world class been thrown around a couple of times, dont get me wrong now a damn fine player but far from world class imo, still young thou so could get there but idk just a good defender to me

also Busquets doesnt look like barca player to me either but again he's young

to even it out abit ( i dont want to be in the anti barca brigade )

pedro has been playing some great stuff recently.

Nope, I love Pique as a player.

Epitome of a stylish Centre Back. If I could pick one player from Barca to have at Arsenal it would be Pique.

He's no John O'Shea thats for sure.

Busquets isnt even that young now he's like 22 or 23. Most players are finished by the time they hit 21 these days.

have to admit, i think Pique is absolutely quality.

yap he's a great ball playing cb alright but I think that's all his has imo
I like pique because of his days at utd but imo why barca dont coincide alot of goals is because the way they play so he's not really tested ya know but on the occasions he does get test he doesnt always come up trumps ya know

There Spanish league winners, cup winners, european champions league winners and world club champions, there in semi final at home where if they win 2-0 they have chance to win 2 champions leagues in row not done since 1990,

A ya Guardiola out, ya useless feck

did i just read most players are developed by 22/23, ere'go Busquets ain't that great?

    f*ck me.

and Pique is very impressive. for me, just behind Xavi, he was MOTM against Real in the Bernabeu.

he is going to be frightening when he fully matures.

tbf slickrick concerning Busquets, i know he's young alright and i mentioned that already but shouldnt Touré be starting ahead of ?

he's also a serial diver and that i personally dont like

oh Busquets should not be starting every game IMO at all, and Touré should be ahead of him in the pecking order, i said as much 15 minutes before the match started.

and yes, he has a very nasty streak it seems, and isn't a particularly nice guy.

    True.

But sure we've already got Eboue, wouldn't be room for both of them.

I always thought he was dodgy at United. Haven't seen much to change my opinion of him at Barca. Good on the ball, but prone to lapses at the back. The spell he had in central midfield shielding the defence when he was on loan in Spain a few years ago suited him better.

Messi - For me, just not good enough. Terrible control and touch. The odd trick but never produces anything, can't seem to find an understanding with Xavi

Xavi - Average midfielder. Can't string a pass together for the life of him. Time to move on.

Pedro - Too old. Time to retire

Valdes - Terrible keeper. Clearly at fault for all 4 goals tonight.

Pique - Speed Demon. Not a good enough defender. Too small for me.

Puyol - Well, I think this one speaks for itself.

If Messi was half the player Chyg is I would be impressed.

    Sticky this.

Its about as redicilous as the "Is it time for Wenger to go" thread.

    Very good :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

    Great thread.

I think Pique is an absolutely majestic centre half and is going to be an amzing player. Its amazing how good he is at what 23? By the time hes 28 the body of big game experience he'll have gained will make him the best defender in the world. Barca buying him back for 5 mill will go down as one of the bargains of the dacde in time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,369 ✭✭✭UnitedIrishman

Messi - poor mans Clive Mendonca.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,535 ✭✭✭Raekwon

Barcalona peaked 2 years ago, the domestic double last year was a complete fluke as was their CL win, which was mainly down to how fatigued the English teams in that competition were.

Btw Bojan Krkić as an amazing prospect? Pft! He is the next Carlton Palmer........same first touch, ball control, movement off the ball.......even the physical resemblance is completely uncanny!

I think it's also worth noting that:

At age 11, Messi was diagnosed with Growth-Hormone-Deficiency <source>

    and

A common symptom of this disorder is the sadistically titled "micropenis". <source>

Infer from this what you wish...
