16 year old here depressed. :(

No matter how much I eat, I can't put on weight.
I'm tall, too skinny and very "bony"

I want to bulk up but how can I, I've nothing to turn to muscle.
Will I always be like this ? :(

you'll be skinny until your 21, your body stops growing then and your metabolism starts to slow down, so you'll be able to put on weight much easier then

It's better to be skinny than obese in my opinion, some would consider you lucky being able to eat all you want

Definatly not. It's just harder for you to put on weight. I am guessing your Da is the same size as you because you both eat pretty much the same thing.

    Post up your diet.

For god sake, get some confidence stupid! The only thing stopping you from putting weight on is you. If theres something you know you can do, but your mind creates roadblocks, just know that you can drive straight through them!

I have no real experience with this.

    For breakfast: normally, porridge/3 weetabix.

Lunch: Normally, a large roll from spar, Spicy Chicken fillet, lettuce, taco sauce.

Dinner: Normally a medium/large meal, one serving of meat, 2/3 vegetables & 1 of potatos/rice/beans.

I snack throughout the day, never gain weight!

    Exercise.

    Football mostly.
I used to do about 20 sit ups and pull ups, morning and night but stopped because of sweet f all results.

that's all you can manage to eat in a day? throw in half a dozen eggs and 3 litres of milk for a start, then an extra dinner and a couple more of those chicken rolls and see if you don't put on weight.

Lift weights. Heavy ones. Often. Eat Loads. Again, often.

Have a look at the stickies there lad on nutrition, you also want to concentrate on doing compound lifts, these are ones which exercise a number of different muscles at the same time e.g. bench press, squat etc.

    Cheers,

Is there anywhere I can go to get a diet/exercise plan?

I have skinny legs, arms, wrists. etc.
Does it have something to do with bone structure?
I know it's not going to happen overnight but I've heard about having super fast metabolisms and being scrawny for life.

Fat doesn't turn to muscle, start weight training with a good program and eating massive amounts of good food and you will gain weight. Guaranteed.

I'm so ignorant about this, thanks.
How can I get a program.
Should I weigh and measure myself etc. then post it here ?

a lot of people like starting strength. The wiki is decent but you should really buy the book so you don't end up injuring yourself by doing things incorrectly

your build doesn't matter, you'll put on weight if you do heavy lifting an eat enough to support gains

Three weetabix is a fairly small breakfast. Stick 3-4 eggs down you washed down with about a litre of milk and maybe some beans or meat. Work up from there. Thats the way you need to think buddy.

Sit ups won't put on mass.

Do pressups, pullups and squats while you are looking for a gym which has barbells and plates and maybe some sort of rack. I assume that a gym is an option. You will need to eat but also stress your muscles (as many as possible) to get bigger.

I appreciate everyones contribution, I just had 3 Weetabix, did 10 squats (feck they're difficult) and have a 3 eggs frying downstairs.

Going to do 10 more after.

    I'm looking at http://www.westpark.ie/index.htm

"We offer a free 1-hour (optional) Ready, Set, Go! induction session when you join up - we assess your level of fitness and wellness, and give you a basic
    programme to get started

    Exactly what I need.

LOL :D Squatting with a mouthful of egg and a belly full of weetabix! Brilliant!

Thats not exactly what's best mate, what you wanna do is (if you can) join a gym, and start doing the Starting Strength program. Its simple but gets terrific results.

The eating happens all the time EXCEPT when you're exercising. You'll make yourself ill otherwise.

Read up the starting strength wiki. It'll make more sense then.

    Can you explain sets/reps

    "3x5 Squat" = 15 squats?

do 5 reps in a row, then put the weight back, have a few minutes' break, then do another set of 5 reps, another break, then 5 more reps.

The first number is the number of sets, the 2nd number is the number of reps you do per set.

When I was 16 I weighed about 52/53kg at around 5ft 9 or so. I remember once the skinniest person I had ever seen told me he never saw someone skinner than him before. I think he was a bit deluded actually but point is I was ridiculously skinny.

At 25 years old my adult weight was 68.5kg at 5ft 11. This was around the time I really wanted to do something about it. I discovered and started the 'Starting Strength' program and ate like the program told me to and just over a year later I got up to a weight of 82.5kg. I spent a mere 2 months dropping fat put on and I'm now 76kg and just as lean as I was at 68.5kg.

I believed all that I didn't have the genetics stuff too but once I started drinking 4 litres of milk a day and squatting 3 times a week that notion went out of my head. It doesn't come as easy to me as some other guys but with a bit of conviction you can make up for that.

Starting Strength + GOMAD...go google these things.

With willpower you can eat more. I was putting away 10,000kcal some days over christmas, and that was not trying to eat a lot. 2L of whole milk is an easy 1250kcal, and 200g of nuts is another easy 1200kcal

I used to be mad skinny too man, stuck at 10.5stone for years. But lifting heavy and eating tonnes of decent food has gotten me over 14st by now. Gives ya a lot more confidence too (or at least it did for me). Just get lifting and eating and working hard, and it'll start to happen.

I used to think I was doomed by genetics thanks to me dad, until today.
No confidence, never wanted to go swimming since it meant taking my top off.

The poster that tried GOMAD was even more skinnier then me, won't happen overnight but I'll do it. :D

Good start, although I'd drop the white bread.

Remember to eat again in a couple of hours, don't wait till you feel hungry. Its surprisingly easy to forget to eat when you're not getting hungry.

Squat bench deadlift and chin ups, do those heavy, with good form, drink a crap load of milk, eat food, get sick, eat more food, i went from 87 to 107 in about 6 months doing this.

I've gained 10kg in 5 or 6 months on starting strength and lots of milk.

The earlier you get up, the quicker you can get breaki in!
