For health and fat loss and muscle gain? After much thought and research I have decided to cut fruit out of my diet and see how it goes.

BREAKFAST: an omelet made from a few eggs, mushrooms and olive oil

LUNCH: a peice of oily fish, drizzled with olive oil and vegetables

    DINNER: chicken and veg

SNACK: unsalted walnuts, brazil nuts, hazelnuts

I'll be sticking to around 1200 calories a day (I'm female.) I'll also be taking a vitamin C and iron supplement. I can't bring myself to eat any meat except chicken and fish, I find red meat absolutely repulsive. What do you think? Will I be lacking any vital nutrients? Do you think I'll be getting enough of the right kinds of fat? This diet is basically going to be paleo but without the fatty meat. I don't know how much fat someone actually needs. I haven't been this low-carb before, will I have trouble gaining muscle or suffer any other side effects? Anything else I haven't thought of? I have been eating way too much fruit, like seriously a ton, I think that's been hindering my weight loss efforts because it makes me really hungry a short time later and makes me stuff my face with carbs. Nearly every day I've been eating a mixture of kiwis, dragonfruit, peaches, lychees, plums, figs, passion fruit and sharon fruits. A big bowlful of mixed fruit in the morning and some more in the afternoon. I think it's just fuelling my sweet tooth. I don't want to have even one peice of fruit a day now, because it's like sweets to me, I can't stop at one peice. If you're not eating fruit, roughly how much veg should you eat each day to make up for it? The diet I've specified above, is it healthy long-term or are you meant to add more carbs in at a later date?

If it's relevant my usual exercise routine is:

heavy weights session 2 or 3 times a week
walk a few miles a day
aerobics on and off when shin splints allow. I'm thinking of taking up bike riding instead as I've been having bad pain from the shin splints lately.

    That's a lot of questions.

my 2c: 1200 calories is very low. I'd suggest you consider a multivitamin. You should consider mineral supplementation as well though I don't know enough to advise you.

You mention gaining muscle; Not gonna happen on that kind of restricted calorie diet.

Mostly though, I think that's pretty healthy diet. Just not enough of it. You're gonna be hungry. I mean properly hungry.

it's a fairly good solid diet

    quick few tips for u

I would recommend getting some BCAAs before/during your workout and get your carbs in after your workout to make sure you do not fatigue for future workout (especially if you are lifting heavy)

    Good luck with it

I've been trying to stick to 1400cals a day and find it really tough, hungry all the time. So fair play to you for aiming for 1200 cals!

i love red meat & yes to a certain extent you will be missing out on some decent nutritents but its your choice!:)

Also i would try and include some coconut oil/milk where possible. pretty good fats right there!
