I think the two of us were up watchin streams that night. Great fight and really juiced up Martinez's stock.

I see this as a similar fight but with Pavlik it could go either way - either that freight train straight left will cave in the Argies chest like the 2.45 to Connolly Station or he will wilt like a flower as pretty as yourself down the stretch under the relentless pressure of the Monzon wannabee!

I think you maybe right, was a fantastic display.
You've a fine way with words vintage, I must say lol.
Martinez is way above pavlik in terms of skill, i can't see him losing this at all.Everything about this fight says sergio wins, his footwork is unreal, his hand speed ,he's very smart and quick thinking, pavlik's going to look awful.

Fuming Sky are not showing this, they show Berto last week yet don't show this massive fight.

Pavlik's power will be too much. Martinez is most certainly the more skilled boxer of the two, but people are underrating Pavlik due to his loss to Hopkins. He still punches twice as hard as anyone Martinez has faced and this is what will see him get a stoppage. Martinez doesn't have enough power to keep Pavlik at bay, so he will plough on and eventually wear him down and hurt him. I expect Martinez to be ahead on the cards before the stoppage but cannot see him outboxing Pavlik for twelve long rounds.

Pavlik is underrated now and Martinez is overrated. I'll be cheering on Martinez, he deserves a big win. Seems like a decent fella and no doubt can feel hard done by in his last defeat.

What? I would say vice versa.

Pavlik has defended his title against some very poor opposition.

He might be the best of a bad bunch of middleweights now that Abraham has gone to 168.

No, your attitude is exactly the type of one I was referring to. Pavlik hasn't had the greatest 18 months or so, doesn't make him a chump. He went from overrated to underrated in one fight. He is still undefeated and has beaten almost everyone inside the distance at that weight yet people think any sort of boxer with some skills will school him. He was two weights above his usual weight and lost to a veteran whose experience shone through. Martinez is a nice boxer and gave an admirable performance against Williams, now more are backing a smaller Martinez on the grounds that he gave Williams problems. If/when Pavlik hits Martinez the way Williams did, Martinez is getting hurt.

lol.. that was 700... We all saw it ..
Stream is gone down.. I take it that's the last of the undercard fights then.. that guy Mike Jones looks like one for the future.. very fast hands.

    Undefeated as well.

    Nice!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,024 ✭✭✭Big Ears

I also thought Miranda won the 2nd and I thought Miranda was looking a much more complete and better fighter overall than he had in the past.

But Bute has such an ability to land deceptive power shots like that.
A really fantastic shot, deserving of winning a prizefight.

Holy smokes. Lovely uppercut. He has a serious case to be called top dog in the division now. Congrat to Bute. Job well done.

I think Bute would have caught out better fighters than Miranda with that punch. Still he won't be good enough to beat Andre Ward.

Pavlik's an idiot, the straight right to the body has been there all night for him and he hasn't thrown it. Jacke Loewe has actually just mentioned he's head hunting.

It's gonna be interesting to see how Martinez does as his stamina fades. His movement will become less and less and Pavlik will start getting close.
Pavlik needs to stay positive though, he's getting very disheartened.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,594 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

this is like a matador with a bull so far. If Martinez can keep up this pace he'll win on points comfortably. if not pavlik will eventually close the distance and score a late ko i think
