    Hello,

I have a Vodafone 3G dongle, and I'm looking for a router to which I can plug it into and has Ethernet ports?

The router doesn't have to have wi-fi, just Ethernet ports, as I'm looking for it as cheap as possible

any ideas to where I will find a cheap/quality one and the router name?

    cheers,

    Kevin.

The Vodafone At Home router can do this, if you have landline broadband and switch it to Vodafone they give it to you for free.

I'll be using it in turkey, unlocked so that's the only problem so I'll need one not branded to a network

I bought a Dovoda one, there is a sticky for them on the main page on this forum, lots of useful info there and people to help out if you ahve problems

It has been perfect and I am very happy with it, easy to set up and so much better than just being able to plug the USB dongle into my laptop

It has ports and has wifi, I use both with no issues

The 3G USB modems (which does not provide Broadband) are the bit that may be SIM locked. If the Modem is not SIM locked, then the Modem will work with a Turkish SIM.

There is a sticky with many routers that take 3G USB modems discussed. It's very unusual for the router to be network locked.

    Read the thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055506944
    and use Google.

You should have got a Router & Modem about same time to make sure the two are compatible. Different Routers support different 3G USB modems.

Some 3G USB modems don't work on any router.

If you have enough memory, many routers with PCMCIA card slot, USB <-> PCMCIA adaptor and Open WRT will support many USB modems.

Mostly you need to buy online.

For GOOD quality, you may have little change out of €250 for Unlocked, unsubsidized Modem + Router.

    Hi,

I recieved the vodafone K3765 modem today, I was just wondering how do I unlock it to make it work on all networks so I can put it on turkcell when I'm in turkey?

I think it's just the firmware I need for this router, and there not actually locked its just the vodafone software that locks it?

any ideas on how to unlock,

    cheers,

    Kevin.

You should have bought an unsubsidized modem. It's locked because otherwise they lose money.

Their should be a way of unlocking it though? like flashing the firmware?

Flashing the firmware will not unlock a modem, but they can be unlocked alright using unlock software
