Whatever is comfortable and does not chafe.

    Track bottoms etc.

I'm a fan of the adidas climacool stuff myself but regardless of clothing get yourself some bodyglide, best thing to prevent chafing. just make sure yourr comfortable.

    A singlet?

Anything loose really. The runners you have on are a more important aspect so take care of that first.

Good shoes are the most important thing really. You can wear pretty much anything light and comfortable, you're probably better off going with wicking t-shirts rather than cotton though as cotton holds all the moisture very close to your skin.

check out some specialist running stores if you want some tech/specific running kit:

You can spend a little or alot here so prioritise on what you actually need. First a good pair of runners that fit correctly depending on your characteristics such as arch type etc. Check out some online reviews or buy a copy of Runnersworld for reviews and sizing information on the latest available shoes, most of which are available in Lifestyle or Elverys. I sincerely doubt anyone on boards will advise against anything from the upper ranges of Asics or Saucony which are all excellent.

Don't be cheap with socks, again buy good quality to go with your new runners, these will help to prevent blistering or any other irritation. Anything else really depends on yourself, i.e. how cool or warm you like being when running, not too sure about slapping on the bodyglide yet though, buy some good running shorts first and see how they behave. In my opinion and its only an opinion so don't treat it as gospel but stay clear of Runways in parnell street as mentioned earlier, very overpriced and extremely unhelpful staff. Elvery's have an excellent running section and can order anything you may need not already on display.

After that an ipod/mp3 and off you go!

Thanks for all the responces. Would you recommend under armour?

For thermals, under armour, helly hansen & canterbury are all great and do the job, however we're coming into the summer and if the last few days of sunshine is anything to judge the next couple of months on try buying some Nike dryfit or Adidas Climacool kit

I would only recommend Under Armour in the winter, no point wearing in during the summer. I never really bothered with Under Armour for running at all to be honest.
If it was very cold, a long sleeve t-shirt and a short sleeve does the job!

+1 for the Nike dry fit. I wear the Nike stuff when jogging or working out and find it great.

Yeh, under armour is the business. But its all about what you feel comfortable in.

Loose wicking tee shirt for top, either long or short sleeved. I only use thermal layers in the depths of winter, theyve been too warm for a while now.

Bottom half I always wear tight leggings or shorts, loose running shorts work well too, but I just prefer tight ones. Men might not. :D

It's getting pretty warm atm, couldn't imagine running in my body armor top now.
Yep light cotton is great during the summer, anything else and my nips are like bullets for days. I bought a running top in lidl a few weeks ago and all I can say is ouch!

I wear bodyarmor shorts (under footie shorts) for chafing, this isn't an issue unless going on runs past 5K, I find that's when it kicks in.

On warm days expose as much skin as possible for air cooling. Tracksuit bottoms are a no no IMO.

When it's cold I go body armor shorts/top, tracksuit bottom and a sleveless wind-breaker I got in Lidl(great for holding keys and ipod).

    Quick question:
What do you guys use to carry keys/ipod? I'm going to drop the lidl sleveless top for the summer.

For my iPod I use an arm band and that sorts that out. There is a little pocket at the back of some of the jogging trousers I have and I slip my front door keys in there. If I'm somewhere that I've had to drive to I carry my keys in my hand. Its a pain but I can't think of anything else.

I have an arm band for my iphone but stick the ipod in my pocket (nano so its small) if I take that instead.

I got a quick release clip for my keys so if i park the car somewhere I just take the car key and leave the house ones in it. something like this,

Also I have a belt which holds a water bottle for the long runs which holds everything.
