Why should facebook take any of the blame? You can book flights using other peoples credit cards, certainly never a problem when the family name is the same. I'm not even sure if facebook process the payments, I think it's Zyanga.

well then, zyanga should have some responsibility.
If an unauthorised person uses my credit card, it's theft. Her son stole from her, plain and simple. If he took 20 euro in cash and bought sweets in a shop (eats the sweets), she then finds out, would you expect the shop keeper to refund her the money? Same principal here.

no i wouldn't expect the shopkeeper to refund.
if he used her credit card in the shop then, yes i would expect a refund.
If she really did think it was her sons fault, she wouldn't have went blabbing on about it. It's her own fault for not keeping an eye on her own credit card and not raising her son right. Maybe it'll teach her a lesson.

its easy to blame the parents really. sometimes they're to blame, i don't we can blame her for this, we don't know anything about her parenting skills tbh.

Look, stop saying the name should match the profile.. It's stupid. My facebook name is my nickname so people cant find me unless they know me enough to know my nickname. Secondly, the card is the responsibility of the holder. If you report it stolen, you get your money back. If it's your own son, tough cheese.

well to be completely honest i haven't a feckin clue what way credit card policies are. i just think its kinda sensible that your account name should match up with the card

You realise it takes about two minutes to set up a group of people and make it so that they cant see whatever you don't want them to see..

2 minutes is 1 minute 59 seconds longer than I could be bothered spending worrying about my family.

I kid, I'm a fantastic uncle. Besides she really just wants Farm neighbours and I only use FB for photos and checking out my girlfriends hot cousins Status updtaes.

I worked out recently that more time is spent playing farmville in the western world than actually farming.

So should boards.ie account names match if someone wants to use their credit card to subscribe?

Again, I can't see why Zyanga or any other company are to blame. They sold their product and completed a transaction, which wasn't challenged by the owner of the credit card or by the bank.

If you have all my bank details including my pin number, what's to stop you using my money. Absolutely nothing, unless I realise what's being done and report it as theft. I honestly can't see how you could blame or expect the company to take responsibility for this.

Would her inability to take an interest in what her child is doing online (yet alone monitor) not reflect on her parenting skills. I know you say it's easy to blame the parents, but it's even easier to blame a faceless company.

I have to completely disagree with you saying we can't blame her for this. In fact we can, as pointed out, where did he get the credit card? Has she not at least instilled some concept of right and wrong, the value of money. If she gave a 12 year old her credit card, she has nobody to blame but herself.

Okay, i see now, ads by google has pointed out my stupidity.

of course he knows right and wrong. (i hope)

i'm standing by what i said, i personally don't think we can blame her. kids do stupid things all the time. this is one of them.

Put the 11 digits after v= between the youtube brackets provided in the reply editor.

Um no, they take children up to age 12 and there are a good few around his age.
You're awfully interested in my sons childminding arrangements

Not really. But between your vigilance in supervising his internet access and then when you said you sent him to a creche, I had a mental picture of you being a hyper-protective mum who wrapped him in bubble wrap before letting him out the door or something:p

    Nevermind!

Actually i disagree with this. For one thing i think 11 year olds are plenty aware of sex. If I recall correctly in my primary school we had already had sex ed classes by this stage (thou we had already heard of sex of course - i don't want to give the impression the sex ed was to early - it wasn't, it was timely i woudl say), and some of the kids had porno mags obtained from older siblings (of course the kids with older siblings were even more aware of sex than those without)
Anyhow - the point is. i think that this is exactly the age to be worried about that stuff. This is the age where they know a bit and are likely to be becoming more curious and possibly searching the next for stuff. And also an age where they are very impressionable and most likely to be affected by things they see i would think.

All important points, but the emphasis was yours. What I meant is that I would care less about my 11 year old seeing some boobs than being kidnapped or groomed, especially given that curiosity and the natural technical ability of children can overcome any web filter.

This kid knows all about the concept of money. After all he used someone elses money to buy what he wanted - he will go far.

    Sounds like he's a politician.

The kid knows the concept of money, his mother obviously doesn't and what better way for mummy to learn.

    Where is that child's initiative?

He gets his hands on his mother's credit card and all he buys is a thousand quid's worth of Farmville credit?

Well If you're stupid enough to pay money to go on a free forum like boards.ie then I think you deserve to be inconvenienced by the same people a bit more ;)
