Fats & carbs together?

This is something that has been bothering me for a while and corkcomp just mentioned it in another thread so I thought I'd seize the moment!

How bad is it to be eating carbs & fats together? I usually have smoked salmon with a couple of oat cakes at lunch time and maybe even 15g of mixed nuts as well. Is this too much fat to be consuming alongside carbs (i.e. 2 oatcakes)?

    Thanks a mill :)

No, because the fats come along with a nice dose of protein and the carbs are very low gi ones.

The danger of fat and carbs is when you get processed fats and high gi carbs mixed together. That's a recipe for instant fat deposit, often in the form of a massive belly. So 300 calories of doughnuts will be a lot worse for you than 300 calories of salmon, oatcakes and nuts.
