First choice front row and centres. The backs in general look strong enough. The second and back row could struggle.

    Were is Borlase though?

That's a great pack from 4-8 to finally see, 2 years later than expected though.

who is the player that receives the ball at 4.26 in that video and does the spectacular offload? Serious power and skill.

He had those strappings on his legs for being lifted in the lineouts. Paddy Butler would be my guess.

team up for the Wasps game on the deadsite:
    Munster: S Deasy; D Howlett, D Barnes, L Mafi, S Zebo, D Cusack, P Stringer; W du Preez, M Sherry, BJ Botha; B Holland, I Nagle; D O'Callaghan, P O'Mahony, P Butler. Replacements from: D Fogarty, S Archer, M Horan, D Foley, T O'Donnell, J Coughlan, D Williams, T Gleeson, S Scanlon, JJ Hanrahan.

I like the look of that backrow and frontrow. Could we be seeing Axel Foleys starting to have an influence? Good to see the likes of Cusack and Dave O'Callaghan get a run of games.

Pretty sure that's Dave O'Callaghan throwing that offload

he was subbed off as well - was hoping it was one of the young backrows though. It would bode well if it was Butler/POM -exactly what munster need.

Dave O'Callaghan is 6'5", a bit bigger and probably not as fast as the player in the video. If Coughlan was off the pitch it could have been Paddy Butler or POM I reckon. They are about 6'3" and fast. It looked more like Butler to me but I wouldn't be putting money on it. Butler is a good ball carrier with good hands and performed very well for the Irish U20's backrow with Dom Ryan and Ruddock so he is capable of doing it.

Those supports are going to be a nightmare for watching the game, surely this day and age that roof could be supported without using supports in front on the stand.

Ya it could but in fairness this was a stand built in 10 weeks so id say they weren't overly concerned about the aesthetics and it is "temporary" i think isn't it?

I'd say temporary a bit like pension tax etc.

maybe uncovered seats like in RDS might have been a better option

tbh my worst experience was in the Anglesea stand with columns and the fact that my seat actually looked out directly at another stand as opposed to the pitch!!

No no no, uncovered seats are a disaster in this country, a rip off too for the money they charge to be sitting in the rain.

Well obviously covered is better, but when it comes to temporary stands like this, the pillars/bars will become an issue to seeing the game properly...that is a bigger issue for me than getting wet

Musgrave is mostly open terrace anyway, so just wear appropriate clothing like everyone else

To be fair, the pillars look quite thin so it could be fine.
Anyone that is in the stand tonight let us know.
Ill be on the terraces - tradition :p
Though they demolished my usual spot to build that stand xD

well i will miss my usual seat (uncovered) right next to the team bench (Tony Buckley is really that big!!) and about 5 feet from the hooker throwing into lineouts

it was really different being so close to the action

I'm a terrace man myself but my last choice of tickets for any game is an uncevoered stand, it's a lot easier to stand in the rain than sit, it's just miserable.

Even with it being a temporary stand surely they could have gone for a canvass cover like the RDS.

    A Step Up.
    19 August 2011, 11:04 am
    By Pat Geraghty

The opportunity this evening for Munster supporters to throw their eye over newcomer BJ Botha wearing the new look Munster jersey alongside Doug Howlett and Lifeimi Mafi, both togging out for their first game of the new season.

Mike Sherry is another who gets to stretch his legs from the start while Duncan Williams, Dave Foley and Tom Gleeson are waiting in the wings and can be expected to get game-time in the course of the game.

In all, there are nine changes from the side that started in La Rochelle, including the one positional of Scott Deasy who moves from the centre to full-back - Johne Murphy who started there in France, involved last night for the Ireland Select XV in Donnybrook - with Mafi now joining Danny Barnes in midfield.
The presece of Botha alongside his Springboks colleague Wian du Preez with the burgeoning talent of Sherry gives the front row a potent look while Billy Holland and Ian Nagle team up together in the second row for the first time since the Gwent Dragons League game back in November.
The surprise is that Peter Stringer is down south tonight and not in Dublin but his presence ensures that what looks a pacy backline will get quick quality ball. Denis Hurley, try scorer for the Ireland Select last night in Donnybrook is added to the squad for a match that represents a step up from last week.
Tickets are available from the ticket offices in Cork and Limerick, and will be on sale at the ground this evening.
    Munster: S Deasy; D Howlett, D Barnes, L Mafi, S Zebo, D Cusack, P Stringer; W du Preez, M Sherry, BJ Botha; B Holland, I Nagle; D O'Callaghan, P O'Mahony, P Butler. Replacements from: D Fogarty, S Archer, M Horan, D Foley, T O'Donnell, J Coughlan, D Williams, T Gleeson, S Scanlon, JJ Hanrahan, D Hurley.
London Wasps: Alex Cheesman, Jack Wallace, Richard Haughton, Tom Varndell, Chris Mayor, Chris Bell, Christian Wade, Nick Robinson, Ryan Davis, Jonah Holmes, Nic Berry, Charlie Davies. Forwards: Jeremy Castex, Simon McIntyre, Bob Baker, Guillermo Roan, Ben Broster, Nathan Morris, Tom Lindsay, James Cannon, Marco Wentzel, Richard Birkett, Sam Jones, John Hart (captain), Billy Vunipola.

Considering how often he was injured last season that's very worrying.
