    Hey all.

Got my first tattoo there on Thursday, it runs from my shoulder to my elbow. How soon can I get back in the gym after it? I kept it wrapped the first 4 hours and it's unwrapped since, healing it naturally.

Any suggestions with regards training? Or what exercises to avoid for now?

Excessive sweating while healing can damage the colour OP.

Avoid sweating. Seriously. The colours will run man. I left mine for a full week before doing anything. Healing naturally? Are you not cleaning it every day????!!

Actually.. just post this in the tattoo forum and get their advice.

My housemate is a tattoo artist. Does all my tattoos, general advice is give it a week and Bepanthen it every so often.

Sorry, yeah I'm using bepanthan and cleaning it regularly. What I meant by letting it heal naturally was that I'm not covering it with clingfilm.

The artist also said one week, I wanted to get a general consenus though from regular gym-goers. Seems a week is my best bet. Do I need to cover it at all when i work out next, or do anything special at all?

    This is a pic:

I got a tattoo about 2 weeks ago, the tattoo artist advised against going to the gym or any major cardio exercise for 10 days. It's on my arm so obviously any bicep/tricep exercises were out the window, but he maintained not to do cardio as you don't want to be sweating profusely while it's healing.

It's annoying if you're big into your training, but I have massive respect for the guy who did mine so I took his advice.

I was training all the while during my back piece, full back full coverage, training the next day after a session and didn't notice any ill effects once you keep it clean and moist it'll be fine.
