I started training in Crossfit Ireland in February with Colm and Will. Training atmosphere is great, the lads are really knowledgeable and have their heads screwed on right on all things training related. Strongly recommend the crossfit!

If you're near a crossfit gym, I'd say go for that.

I would go crossfit too since it is so varied, I spotted the sandyford lads been ran ragged the other day on my way home from work, running up my road in work in bits! I guess it was them since one had a crossfit top on and a timer.

Another vote for crossfit here I'm down at Crossfit Ireland also. Colm and Will know their stuff. Your covering powerlifting, weightlifting, kettlebells, some basic gymnastic moves, mobility work, bodyweight movements, running, rowing. You'll get pretty competent at all the above and it will get you alot fitter and stronger than just kettlebells alone.

If there was Crossfit anywhere near Dundalk I'd be there. Making do with my kettlebell at the minute.

I'd second all that crossfit is deadly.

I have been doing crossfit workouts at home and using a kettlebell as well. going to a kettlebell basics tomorrow. I would say get a kettlebell and you could do all the exercises with it for crossfit, such as snatch, thrusters etc.. I want to the kettlebell course to perfect technique and be able to throw into the boot and workout when away for my gym.

    good website jeff

If there's nowhere near you, it's entirely possible to train CF on your own.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say a good kettlebell programme with a few different weights of bell is better than crossfit.

Why so? Not being argumentative, I've read pieces of your log and see you do loads with kettlebells.

I wouldnt say better but just different - think crossfit is more rounded. For me more than 5mins with a kettlebell gets fairly boring

Hi, I was looking for the same thing, crossfit is too far away for me so found a good kettlebell class for now, they dont just do kettlebells all through it, its mixed with other exercises. The class flies in. My body still feels sore after it!

Did the basic course today for kettlebells. Found the course was very good and well set out. With kettlebells it will give me the ability to train anywhere and polish my swings for my crossfit metcons. But like everything else they are not the answer alone, but an aid.

I did a few classes in a place just off the Greenhills Road, they don't charge you for the first couple of classes then as far as I remember it's about €65 a month for unlimited classes - it's just a little bit more expensive than a gym, great fun, well worth a try.

You must be thinking about someone else bobby I don't have a training log on here.

Maybe it's down to definitions. My definition of crossfit is the mainsite workouts and programming. And yea, a decent kettlebell programme is better than that.

Fair point. It depends on how crossfit is implemented. I'm not a fan of mainsite programming and I guess most around here aren't. Might be useful if you already have a 2BW squat but it's not going to get you one. CFI has a good strength bias and doesn't program over the top chipper workouts at every opportunity.

My bad, it's a guy called DamienH that does. And I'd agree with you that a structured kettlebell program is better than mainsite WODs these days.
