Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Greece a lot more ****ed than we are. So they've let it get to this stage and haven't done anything. So nyah.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Greece is in a considerably crappier position than we are.

All the same, I've been collecting rubble for hefting at black marias and learning to make home made explosives, for the riots in 2012 when FF are inexplicably voted back in.

You do wonder sometimes about Irish people. As one Greek woman said, I am not going to sit on my couch.

    She's got my number! :pac:

I'm not sure what this thread is getting at. Greece is a f***ing basket case when it comes to running it's ecomony, especially in regards to taxation where dodging taxes has become an art form. They can protest all they want but they haven't a leg to stand on.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,103 ✭✭✭North_West_Art

you've misinterpreted it... Greece are saying that they are not like the Irish, who appear to be taking things lying down, complacently etc. not living up to the legendary status that we have of being 'the fighting Irish'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,300 ✭✭✭nice1franko

If they put as much effort into working as they did protestin' they wouldn't be in this situation, would they??

Greece had weekly riots, even when there was no economic crisis.

    Thats right: weekly riots.

Sure the Greeks invented it Riotus Maximus they called it

or maybe, you know, the majority of Irish people realise that we are in shit, the problem wont solve itself, and while we dont like it, we know that things have to change.

the Greeks aren't doing themselves any favours.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭giggsy664

And to think, in 2500 years they've gotten worse with numbers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,783 ✭✭✭Hank_Jones

    Greeks, pfffttt.

It's all been downhill since the king Uranus had his penis cut off with a scythe (which was given to him by his mother Gaia) by his son Cronos if you ask me....

Strange how Greek mythology is actually considered that, yet the story of some chap who multiplies bread and fish is taken to be the truth by people.

    Strange old world.

Greece is just more fecking deluded than Ireland is.

Put the IMF in and let them riot.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

Bad and all as Ireland is, riots in the street wont put potential investors at ease.
    Silly Greeks...

Yes...because I am preparing my soul for heaven....

It is a wonderful place where you eat ice cream all day and there are 50 virgins waiting for you to choose from every minute of every day...

    It's supposed to be ironic.

I'll give you a definition, just in case. ;)

the use of words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning: the irony of her reply, “How nice!” when I said I had to work all weekend.

'this is Greece, not Ireland, we'll fight back' - the ironic thing being that by 'fighting back', they are only contributing to their demise.

Apparently this is what the protesters were chanting in Athens at a rally...

    http://thestory.ie/2010/02/11/greece-and-ireland/

more like "this is greece not ireland, we rather send out country down the tubes than do what's needed!"

    feckin greeks, they invented gayness

    We perfected it.

We're not sitting on the couch or lying on our backs. We're down on our haunches with our asses in the air asking for it. The greeks are right, the world is right and I'm guilty of not protesting. It really brings it home when another country says something like that.

i don't understand what they expect to achieve other than worsening their situation

What exactly do you propose protesting against and what do you hope to achieve?

TBH the people I blame for this are the FF voters. I will live and die by the notion that re-electing an Irish government is suicide. They get stupider the longer they're in office. Protesting shows that we take notice and actually care. It puts the leaders under pressure. It's a hell of a lot better than turning the the person next to you and saying "This is awful ****, isn't it!"

Your talking about their situation, not ours. And by the way you phrased that statement, it's almost as if your saying the protests have increased Greeces debt.

So are you protesting against FF or FF voters? The best way to protest is at the ballot box. Anything else is futile in comparison.

Every day the Greeks resist measures to sort their shit out, their debt increases. Basic finance there.

Actually protesting will negatively influence their debt. They will be seen as less stable and investors will rate them as a higher risk. So that will lead to higher amounts for them to pay back.

But enough of that gheyness...I wish we had Spartan women. A little bit of female perfection and nudity would make my days go a little faster

The banksters for running up such dedts and their lackies in government for making us pay for their mistakes.

Hope to achieve a change in the NAMA rules that force the banksters to repay all the money they have been given, before the current system collapses completly!

You are aware the if the government hadn't propped up the banks, the situation would have been much worse?

I am! But my main complaint is the fact that we are giving them the money not lending it!

I would doubt that the money is being 'given' away without strings attached. I would suspect that there will be a much greater level on interference and monitoring in banking in the future. I would hope anyway.
