    current squad:

    1Van der Sar - old
    2Neville - old and useless
3Evra - good player. another four or five years in him yet.
    4Hargreaves - who?
5Ferdinand - something wrong there. Crap before Vidic joined, may well revert to type once he leaves.
    6Brown - decent.
    7Owen - waste of time
8Anderson - a midfielder who'd be comfortable at Wolves. Out of his depth above that.
    9Berbatov - offers nothing.
    10Rooney - terrific.
    11Giggs - too old.
12Foster - 5 years or so and we're all still undecided.
    13Park - read Dirk Kuyt
15Vidic - very good. Never quite recovered from Torres' mauling of him last year.
16Carrick - I fail to see the player in this lad.
    17Nani - rubbish
    18Scholes - way too old.
20F Da Silva 21R Da Silva - file under alright, not good enough to win leagues as starting players. 22O'Shea - decent utility player
    23Evans - average
24Fletcher - hustle and bustle. Put a genuine wc midfielder beside him and you've got a very good central midfield. 25Valencia - as good a right winger as there is in the prem which says alot about how bad the right wingers are in the prem as anything else.
26Obertan - gone back to Easter Island for all I know
    27Macheda - who knows?
    28Gibson - Don't think he'll make the grade.
29Kuszczak - decent back up. Not a goalie to command confidence as a starter.
    30De Laet - ?
31Corry Evans - first name is corry. prob a ponce.
    32Diouf - ?
    37Cathcart - ?
    41King - ?
    42Eikrem - ?
    45Oliver Gill - ?
    46Stewart - ?
Brandy - hasn't been the same since Monica died.
    Chester - - ?

    Not looking great, is it?

Ah seriously lads? I'm thinking of changing the soccer charter so that Dunphy's drivel can't be discussed here. Utd are within a chance of winning 4 domestic league titles in a row. As I said before, consecutive CL finals, and over the past 20 years they have been the most successful domestic club side on the planet. The just need a top class CMF/ AMF, because against top sides that's where they are exposed. Everywhere else is fine really.

    Sack fergie, Sell Giggs.

It's makes me happy to be a Utd fan that our expectations are so high seaosn upon season that when we narrowly lose out on a SF spot in the Cl and are only in with a fighting chanc eof winning the League, it is considered a poor season and people talk about where this leaves the future of the club. Love it. This has cheered me right up! The underage system at Utd is solid, we have lots of young players coming through. Keep the faith. Trust in SAF.

This isn't about now, it's about the future.
Where are the players going to come from? They have no money.

They will need in the coming few seasons:
    A goalkeeper
A centre back (1 at least, 2 if Vidic leaves)
A right full (unless JOS is to be handed the role full time)
A centre mid to partner Fletcher.
    A Left winger.
    A cf to partner Rooney.

    That's just the starting xi

This is the latest in a long of ridiculous over-the-top reactions when United (or any team lose). I remember reading the article below in 2006. I especially liked the line
And the thing is, it is only going to get worse: Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham have all made shrewd, cheap signings and are going in one direction. United are going the other way: they are hugely dependent on Ferdinand and Rooney, but no number of Carling Cup medals is going to sate their ambition"
. Which was followed by 3 Premierships in a row (possibly 4), reaching 2 Champs League finals, 1 semi final and 1 quarter final.

But a fully fit Berbatov is a MUCH better player!

I'd disagree with that, give me Tevez over him anyday. A fully fit Tevez would have been on in the field the minute Rooney tweaked his ankle imo

Ferguson preferred to persist with an injured Rooney than to send in Berbatov. He waited until Bayern ran them into the ground to bring him on which makes you wonder.

Surely a £30M fully fit player is better than one thats limping around the field?

    ROFL at this thread.

Some people listen to Dunphy like he's gospel.

We all knew it would be a year of transistion after Ronaldo leaving. I didn't expect to be even near Chelsea this year. We could very well end up winning the league this year.

It hurts now but it's not been a bad year.

Keep the red flag flying high, because Man Utd will never die. \o/

They don't want to leave it that long!

Utd are in trouble, keeper great but 38, defence full of crocks and OAPs, midfield with too many Ancient Mariners and Michael Carrick, one world class striker that Fergie actually trusts and some kids who may or may not amount to something.

Can I ask United fans what the future does hold? I presume the reason you guys start turning up with Norwich scafs at your home games is because you realise the financial situation at the club isn't great so money might not be there. I've read in the United thread and the match thread that it seems Carrick and Berba both need to be sold in the summer. That will leave united with a midfield of Scholes, fletcher, giggs, Valencia, Nani, anderson, gibson, Hargreaves and Park. Obviously a signing needs to be made but who and how many?

We don't need to sell anyone. Just not have to rely on Carrick in the middle. He's not a horrible option to have in the lesser games. Both players we paid highly over the odds. I don't want to seel Berbatov at all, I rate him. He's an option, not worth 30 million but good player. We're never going to get anywhere near that amount back so no point letting him go for peanuts.

Honestly, I think a creative midfield and a fit Hargreaves(touch wood) and we'd be better off.

Take Rooney out of that squad and you have a very average team imo. When the likes of Giggs/Scholes retire then if we dont buy real quality proven players then we will slip down to the standard to Spurs imo.
