Why Feeling So Tired?

    Hi,

    I went to the gym last night. Got my 8hrs sleep. Sleptvery well but today I am just so tired, which in turn is making me very grumpy!

    Why do I feel so tired after a good nights sleep?

    i find that if i workout out too latre my sleep us affected. Maybe try exercising earlier. Or maybe you just overdid it , any DOMS?

    How was your food intake? Was your sleep restful? Are you recovering form a late night the night previous?

    I find that it can take a full day or two to fully recover from a either drinking, lack of food or a poor night's sleep.

    If I have a load of carbs before bed/as my last meal I find it hard to wake up and am very groggy, only realised this at the weekend when I have barely anything to eat while at home after being fairly low carb the fortnight before that. Explains a lot (about my personal circumstances at least).

    I find the same... But eating any big meal before bed does this to me .. I dont advocate going to bed hungry but going to sleep on an empty stomach works for me, i can wake up after 5 - 6 hours and be wide awake

    I had a weekend free of drinking. Felt I slept well when I first woke up.
    Last night I just had scrambled egg and toast after the gym. Was in gym from 7.45 to 9pm

    I hate going to bed hungry, usually have a shake an hour or two before bed and it does the trick, without the carb hangover.

    an hour or two works for me too .. going straight to bed after food doesnt work though.. and if alcohol involved the next morning is a disaster. cottage cheese + strawberries FTW (i know it sounds like a strange combo but its good)

    I find carbs before bed hep me sleep really well but I don't go heavy on it. To the OP, I often find if I sleep more than required I'm often tired or "droopy" the next day. The optimum for me is around 6.5/7 hours and if I go 8 or more, things may not function as they might! Please do not necessarily apply this to your situation, everybody is different and it could be one of a number of things. As has been said, there are many variables at play here. If your diet is excellent I am completely adamant that you will need a little less sleep as the quality of sleep increases. Quality is so much more important than quantity. I've seen this quite often. Make sure you tick all the boxes that have been mentioned and you'll soon get to the bottom of it.

    TBH I wouldn't mind it much.
    It could be a million things, bio-rythm, lunar cycle, bad eggs, virus. BUT my money is on the GF/wife ^ ^, apparently they can regularly wake a guy up from deep sleep during the night, (which leaves us FUBAR'd in the morning).

    I was actually awake one night and the wife turned around and started digging her knuckles into my back grumbling something, makes me wonder how ofen she does that when I'm unaware.

    So write it off unless it starts happening regularly.
