I've been using one of these for doing deadlifts:

and have found it much more comfortable to use than a normal barbell. Am i losing out or is it the same thing does anyone know?

Is that not just a trap bar?

its not the same as deads at all!

im into strongman and there is a huge difference when using a dealift frame with the bar on front of you rather than handles at the side which is basicly what this is doing.

You use more hips in it but if you are only doing light weight or have injury worries it prob doesnt matter as it is better to do deads safe rather than not doing them at all but there is a difference most people will lift heavier with a bar like that i know i do

    Just my opinion!

I don't think anyone was saying it was the same as a standard deadlift, just that it's an ok alternative.

erm... that would be a "trap" or "hex" bar deadlift...not the same lift as a normal deadlift...

    similar but not the same...

i think its a more quad dominant lift compared to the normal stance deadlift...ive used em in cycles before didnt see much of a gain from them to be honest nice for a change though
