I would be inclined to see this one for Sylvia, he is not a great fighter, but at least he is a fighter. He will be composed enough to use his incredibly boring reach to keep the fight where he wants it.

Agree with Mark, but actually think peak Tim was a good honest fighter and very good at 1 time, boring as he could be an all.

If mariusz can beat Tim its a good sign that he has some potential to be an mma fighter, Good stepping stone match for him..

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

I would say that this is maybe just too big a step for Marius.

Of course the man has the power to crush u with his bare hands but Slyvia has beat some very decent opposition

Remembering the thread about this guy a while back, 5 time world strongest man winner.

Sylvia really has fell to the bottom of the barrel, since his loss to almost 50 year old Ray Mercer , he's one win from his last 4 fights.

    Thoughts on this?

i see Pudzianowski bum rushing him and its over inside the first 3 minutes, i doubt either could go much longer.

    http://mmajunkie.com/news/18578/moosin-mma-hosts-tim-sylvia-vs-mariusz-pudzianowski-on-may-21-in-massachusetts.mma

Are there any odds on this show actually happening? This is going to be Moosin's third attempt at a debut show.

Pudden will charge eating a knee and falling into Tims triangle, pudden will slam him as he passes out for a double ko, ala Hughes v Newton:D

This is Big Tim all the way!

Pudziwhatshisface is a monster, but Tim at one point was a top level guy and i think he still has it in him. 1 win in his last 4 fine, but 2 of those guys were Fedor and Big Nog, not exactly pushovers (the less said about the other loss the better though :P)

    Is it in japan ????:D

Pudzianowski has a punchers chance, if he can punch that is. See it going Tim's way though if he dodges bombs.

I think for him it should be called a "Pick a guy up and squish him... er's chance"

If Tim can get back into the shape he used to be in he should win handy enough.

Tim is a good fighter. I think he could possibly beat brock too if he got back in shape.

That is the biggest IF i've seen in a while. Tim is bubbling around the 300lb mark if not over at the moment. He's massively out of shape and struggles with that. His previous use of steroids was, according to him, for dropping weight. If he couldnt do it then, I dont see how its feasable now.

It must be remembered that top level heavyweight fighters are a very different breed now to what they were when Sylvia was a top contender. Brock aside, I really don't see Sylvia being in the same league as Cain and Shane Carwin, or even Junior Dos Santos.

I hoping for Marius to win this one.
If Tim stops Marius then that puts the brakes on his career before it's begun. If Marius stops Tim we may finally be rid of one of the most boring and least skilled fighters to ever hold a title and we could see a few more entertaining fights with the world's strongest man.

Erm... unless he is going fighting Mark Henry too then he won't be fighting the World's Strongest Man.

Not too sure on this one, I have tickets for Marius's fight in Katowice on the 7th, I'd be pretty dissapointed to find out he had cancelled to fight Sylvia.

Thought id give this a bump, was just reading the paper there and saw a small add saying this will be shown on sky channel 480 tonight (saturday morning) at 2am event is called primetime. cost is about €7.

Not going to bother staying up myself but figured some might appreciate the info.

Sorry yes i think so , never even knew it existed myself to honest but checked the program guide on sky and there it was. But it will definitely cost to watch the event, 7.25 according to the ad.

Should actually clarify the channel is called primetime not the event sorry.

    Yeah i noticed this.

Primetime was set up to carry the Super-Six Boxing tournament. They show al the fights in that tournie.

Have never ordered any myself though. Was never considering ordering this event, but if it's an entire card then €7 seems nothing really!

Im almost afraid to watch this fight.
It wont be a technical fight or a slug fest or even a hugging match.
I just see it being a big lump of bleh

    Yup, a super-fit Sylvia at 305 lbs!

    I still see Big-Tim winning!

    Loved Tim's quote:
“It’s going to be a good fight Friday night. I’ve been asked if it’s been difficult finding workout partners like my opponent who is 280 pounds with 4-percent body fat and gasses-out after 45-seconds"

    :D

    "Tim Sylvia: Weight: 260"

What was the worlds strongest man on the scales
Tim looks every pound of 305

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,320 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

    He was 273!
Great first round for Big Tim! I think Mariuz realises he's in with a legit MMA fighter right now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,895 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

To his credit, Marius looked better than I expected.
Tim looked about as bad as I expected.

Rd 1 : Mario used his power at the start and was dominating. He he looked to tire quickly and tim had him on the back foot avoid strikes for the latter half.
Tim took him down and the round end with some ground and pound. Marius tried a triangle, it was terrible.

    10-9 Sylvia

The highlight of the fight was Herb Dean as the ref.
Marius taps due to strikes early in rd 2

The best part was the Polska chick singing the national anthem

I seriously thought she gonna start singing how other countries have inferior potasium!
Tim: IWhat's up now? I'm back!"

Yeah Tim, you beat a guy with 2 Pro Fights, YOU THE MAN!

God that second round was bad.
His arsenal just seemed to consist of low kicks which didn't appear to be doing any damage at all. Plus he looked gassed after about a minute. Seems destined to be one of those guys that floats around the 'Tank Abbot and Butterbean' circuit.

Good lord thats a contender for worst fight of the decade. Gas fest '10.
I think Mariusz gassed after about a minute. And Sylvia by the end of the round.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Sid_Justice

decent fight, tim using his BJJ skills to pass guard couple of times (he's a blue belt now!). Was impressed with Marius's take downs and leg kicks but ultimately he gassed and couldn't defend himself. If Jeff Monson couldn't beat Tim Syliva this Marius guy had no chance.
