Can't find anything about this in the search. My mother recently started drinking this Cho-Yung tea. She got a free trial on the internet and she says she had to stop drinking it after a few days because she lost too much weight. Does anyone know anything about it or how it works?

In a related point. I looked at this "free trial" she got and its a bit of a scam. They send you out two bags. Only one of them is free. If you don't send back the second one you get charged €60.

I still maintain if there was something that could cause rapid weight loss with no effort or serious side effects, Oprah would have found it. I'm sure she has an entire team dedicated to searching for such a substance :D

It's a scam. Your Ma might have to change her credit card.

If there was anything which caused weight loss without dieting or exercise, the Irish Medicine Board would have it banned in seconds. Or available on prescription only.

I do my best to keep up with research. Okay, like Oprah, I'm hoping for the magic pixie dust that will cause the weight to fall off with no effort on my part. And I've never come across a single study into this tea.

Its not a scam, the terms and conditions are clearly laid out and you have to tick to say you have read and agreed to them before putting the order through! It really annoys me when people who are too lazy to read through the terms and conditions come back then acusing these kind of companies of ''scamming'' them. Take 2 mins to read the t&c's and there wont be any problems :mad:

It is a scam. The company will withdraw over 50 euros from your credit card account if you don't cancel the trial within the trial 14 days and return the product. The only way to know this is to read all the details of a complex terms and conditions. This is completely deceptive and companies that operate in such a manner should be closed down.

The chinese slimming tea is a rip off if you buy online or in a chinese doctor..go to a chinese supermarket in Dublin and buy a box for 3 euro which us 'laowai' are not supposed to know about :D

I fail to see how tea can make you lose weight.
If there was a special tea or pill that was actually made you lose weight, there would be very little overweight and obese people.

    +1,000,000

There are some things that can lower the bodyfat set point, but tea (beyond maybe a small effect of any caffeine) is not one of them.

There's no magic cure folks, well, not yet anyway. You have to put in the work to make healthy choices every single day and there's no way around that..

Thank you ULstudent I only asked where it could be bought in Dublin which I would prefer not a lecture on weight lose so I take it you don't know where it can be purchased!!!!

Geez calm down, he wasn't directly addressing you. The topic is weight-loss teas and he's entitled to give his opinion on the subject. Maybe start a thread in food and drink asking where to get it if it's got nothing to do with nutrition.

Check out the Asian Supermarket in Dublin (sort of at the back of South Great Georges Street). They have rows of different types of tea.

I'm just sipping on my first cup of cho-yung tea. It's suprisingly tasty!

Anyone know what prices are like for it or where it can be sourced? I've searched online but only getting UK sources. I've just borrowed a couple of tea-bags of a friend who purchased online.

    Is it available in stores?

There is a cool little tea shop in IFSC shopping centre too, I but my Pur-eh tea from there :)

I would also try some variations of green tea too. Most of these herbal diet pills in health food shops and chemists contain green tea extract so its alot cheaper just to buy some good quality green tea and save yourself a few quid. Have'nt heard of Cho-Yung tea but would be interested to see if it helps.

I wouldnt say that tea alone could make you lose weight but it can certainly help you detox your system a bit which in turn can kick start your metobolism, which might help you lose a few lbs.

I've tried looking for Cho-Yung Tea in the Asian Market in Middle Abbey Street, the one behind the Jervis Centre, they never heard of it. I tried another Chinese supermarket in Parnell Street - again, they never heard of Cho-Yung Tea. There's a Chinese Acupuncture & healing place in the Blanchardstown Centre which has it for €32 for a box of 40 bags. That seems a bit steep to me. Is anyone able to get this tea in Dublin? If so where. I haven't tried the place at the back og Georges street, (Drury Lane I think) but is that not a wholesalers or can anyone walk in off the street & buy there?

Does this go by any other name...perhaps.
DESPERATE to find this tea, but 32 euro for 40 tea bags seems steep!!!

No that's the name, like you, could not find it in any of the said mentioned supermarkets and like you I would not be paying €32 for 40 teabags As you can see from the above posts it can be bought online but I was unsure of the sites I had a look at so I didn't venture.

There are two types of tea regularly quoted for weight loss, Ooling Tea (Oprah is a fan), and puerh tea (this is the one "Posh" talks about). Oolong is lighter, Puerh is quite strong, almost like black tea. I get both from Lilys tea shop, she's normally in Sonairte (Julianstown) every two weeks. It's all loose-leaf, so you'll need an infuser, or a tea "ball". But for me loose-leaf is the best and most natural tea. I know there is a website too.

they have cho yung tea in holland and barretts, you can purchase it off their website if it's not available in your local store.
but can anyone confirm if this thing actually works? it just sounds so unbelievable :P

I got a sample with Healthy magazine this month and it is quite tasty and when I was in Holland and Barrett today I asked them if they sold it - woman said yes it is 50 euro !!!! what a RIP off . No way am I paying that and supporting unsubstaniated tea that claims you will lose wait by drinking it twice a day . Go to the gym , walk, run cycle, anything!

For the people that have tried it, is it a laxative? I've heard most "diet teas" are laxatives that make you lose a lot of water fast.

Slimatea in holland and barrett is a fairly strong laxative... lol.

They have it in therapie..dublin and galway and i think limerick

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1 Lady_Abi

Yes I've started drinking it and it feels a lot like a laxative but by keeping your bowl regular. Making me feel much less bloated which is always good. Maybe it's just at the start. Seem to have lost a pound or two in the past week so happy days. Expensive though.

As you might guess, I'm a fan of Lilys Tea Shop. Just bought their Slimming Tea from Evergreen in Galway. €6 for a pack..
