Instead of the government, who would you pick to sort out Ireland and make the trains run on time, etc.

    Real, political, fictional, whatever.

I'd go with Batman, he's incredibly smart, has a sense of justice but still knows how to handle criminals, has his own transportation so won't need to claim expenses, isn't afraid to stand up for what he believes in and looks out for the little guy.

Margaret Thatcher, c. 1985. Just after the IRA tried to blow her up in Brighton. I've got a good feeling about this ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

if it was michael o'leary we'd have to pay extra charges for everything. Can you imagine voting : Please insert €2 for polling card . . . .

On a serious note, if he wasn't so sick, brian lenihan would do a good job . . .he's basically holding the country together as it is. I support the principle of NAMA, but not the way that everyon in anglo irish is just getting away with it. Throw them all in gaol!!!*

*may be slightly off topic, sorry!!!

Agree 100%, he wouldn't take sh1t from anyone and he'd cut out the ridiculous amount of handouts given to travellers, immigrants etc and get rid of all the useless overpaid fatcats. If he were in charge we'd really have to tighten out belts but by God he'd sort the place out!

So hand outs to non minorities is ok? Immigrants shouldn't get social welfare, why? Travellers shouldn't get it, why?

Micheal O'Leary is great at running a business, but lets not compare running a business to running a country. If you think things are bad now? He'd make a complete balls of it, he doesn't know the first thing about politics it seems and would suit a facist state much better. Do you think he could sort out the economy? He'd make a complete and utter mess of everything. You'd be charged for fcuking everything.

Did I say that? I don't think so, what I actually said was that he could cut the "ridiculous amount of handouts", the amount they get is just extraordinary and yet if a self employed person has to shut down their business they're not entitled to anything, the whole system is a joke, needs serious reform

I'd say Idi Amin, Robert Mugabe, or Kim Jong-Il would be more compassionate leaders than Cowen.
