Yesterday in Superquinn I couldn't believe that they were selling a range of Retro Easter Eggs

    I bought this one ...

The chocolate seemed to be thicker years ago and far tastier, or maybe I'm just getting old.

So what was the best Easter Egg you every had?

I never looked at the boxes, I was too busy eating them/ trying to steal my brothers' ones

C'mon Pete, you already ate the egg, didn't you?

Used to mill through those big massive Kinder eggs.
Think it started my love affair with Kinder chocolate.

I don't really have an easter eggs memories, apart from one occasion when my mother forgot to buy one for my older brother and he got all pissy.

Remember 3 out of the 4 of those, just not the Milkybar one (possibly because I was never given one).

Must have had about 5 of those Smarties mugs knocking around the house at one stage.
Thought they were previously in blue though..

The chocolate was definitely thicker back then!!

I used to love how they alwayshad mugs with them. I'm the fav cousin in my family so everyone of them(aunts uncles etc) bought me Easter eggs.

Every year my Mother would give out to them saying ohhh stop she is getting to old for Easter eggs now. I remember vividly telling her to shut the hell up one time after she got off the phone!!!

Let me have my childhood and my easter eggs!!!!!!!

Only retro thing I have in the cupboard is a Neighbours mug from 1989 I think! :D

Half in the fridge still, very thin for a Yorkie, not at all like I remember.

More chocolate in a bag of Minstrels

Superquinn in Walkinstown or Tesco in Dundrum or Parnell St.

They all have tons of 'em.

You being given less and being charged more now.
    See: http://uk.biz.yahoo.com/01042010/389/massive-easter-egg-rip.html

Sadly, people will still fork out for them due to trying to keep kids happy.
The choc companies have us over a barrel and they know it.

Here is a screen grab of the report (above) about rip-off eggs.

I remember a Ghostbusters one I got as a child. The box was shaped like a haunted house and had windows that you could open to reveal different ghosts.
We didn't really splash out too much on the Easter eggs because my brother would always end up sick from eating his in all the one go. :)

I won a Mars Bar egg in first class. I don't even like Mars bars but I won't say no to free chocolate. Actually apart from a giant teddy, that's the only thing I've ever won. :(

Does anybody remember those little friction driven trucks with a bag of little eggs on the back? The eggs had a hard, coloured shell with chocolate inside.

Best Easter I ever had was when I called over to The Almighty Cushion's house and he had a cupboard full of proper chocolate eggs!

All hail The Cushion for he is glorious and generous at Easter with bountifuls of delicious, teeth-rotting gifts!

the chocolate industry must be worth a fortune, it some shops it cheaper to buy 2 or 3 than it is to buy one depending on the offer

as for me theres 4 easter eggs in the press, they cant all be for me

..You asked your wife to marry you.. in Blackpool?!

Unless this was a very long time ago and times were very different, it's not exactly the most romantic place in the world.. Unless, you know, you dig chavs, filth and glowsticks.

I like Blackpool, don't get me wrong, but more in a kind of ironic, "oh, this is so seedy and tacky, I love it" way rather than a "oh my god, this is so romantic, let's get married" way! :p

Did this last year. Ended up buying weird adult eggs for me nieces. They probably don't care. It's all chocolate.

Crikey, just been to SuperValu in Ennistymon - they sold out of eggs two days ago, apparently someone was in from Limerick today after easter eggs....countrywide shortage it seems

I left with 2 mini mars eggs, giant bag of maltesers and a bar & a half of dairy milk :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,992 ✭✭✭Korvanica

Damn you for bringing the awesome smarties egg to my attention! I want one now but have pretty much zero chance of getting one at this stage:(

Got a spongebob one from my girlfriend, and got her a toy story one:p

This is the first time in about 15 years that I've had an easter egg...
