I'm guessing the "Chinese/Indian" is the curry, right?
You do know they make more than just curries - a bit pigeon-holing them a slight bit?
Just a though, nothing more. :)

Isn't it really you just making assumptions about Ads eating habits? You are pigeon-holing a vast amount of peoples eating habits.
Just a thought, nothign more! :P

Don't think Indian should be slotted in with Chinese and Thai.

Indian is a world apart from the other 2.

I've just had an idea, I might get McDonaghs chips and a slice of pizza out of the new place on Cross St. (Galway) for breakfast..

Take them home and have a beer and a fag with it.. Nice start to the day :D

Sorry Ads by Google. Wasn't a go at you in anyway, shape or form as a criticisms. Just a honest straight forward question.
I could be one of the few that sees "Chinese/Indian" as more than just curries as a first mental image, thats all.
I can understand completely why others would see that way though. It now engrained into our culture that way. :)

Thai food FTW. Followed closely by sushi for me.

I'm actually not a big fan of greasy. I love fish, but i prefer it unbreaded and grilled to fish n' chips style.

My greasy exception is pizza, which I love, but can't eat more than once a week or I feel sh*te. Getting old sucks ;)

Yeah, the ubiquitous 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 boxes are completely Irish inventions as far as I can tell.

They don't exist in the States. Or China/India for that matter ;)

They are cheap and tasty though after a night out though so I'm glad we have them..

    Simple really.

Curry Chips and Pizza. You might want to get a 1.25L bottle of diet coke to wash it down.

    ;)

    All depends on the mood.

If I'm staying in, then a good takeaway option is pizza or Chinese.

Going out its often Thai, Vietnamese or Korean.

    Regulary have Japanese for lunch.

Not a big fan of Italian or Mexican.

But over all, ya can't beat a Tayto Cheese and Onion sandwich with a cold can of Coke :)

Strange thing is that if you go to England, some places look at you funny if you ask for Curry and chips!
They give you gravy and chips instead! YUCK!!!

You have never had proper gravy if you can't stand it! Gravy made from the juices of a good steak is awesome!

Get gravy in HillBillys, that will change your mind!!! (Is Hillbillys anywhere but Cork actually?

Oh they're grand, I think the 'ethnic' food everywhere ends up being catering to the new populace. IE the fortune cookie is ubiquitous in the US, and that's entirely a US Chinese invention/marketing tool.

I used to live in SF, which has a large asian population. So you'd say have Chinese for the Chinese food places and then 'Chinese for whitey' places, as I like to the call them.

Same for every ethnicity. ie you'd go into a burrito joint and it had beef tongue on the menu - mostly Mexican clientele. Sun-dried tomato tortillas - you're prob not in the latino area any more.

Chinese, Chipper, Pizza, Indian/Thai in that order.

Crispy Peking Chicken, egg fried rice, some chips = Heaven. Heart attack on a plate, but still!

they dont know how to do it, take away i used to go to done the full range, fish and chips, kebabs, burgers, even a small range of oriental, rice, noodles, curry, etc

asked for a curry chip, they did curried rice so i thought why not, didn't know what i meant, said pour curry sauce over the chips, got home to a very messy bag, chips were served in the usual paper cone, curry sauce poured on top, paper falling apart by time got to the bottom

it was great take away though, used to go into it on the way home if working late, about once a week at about 11pm for the nicest chicken burger and chips have ever had. went back to it whilst on holiday about 4 to 5 years after moving here to see if still as good, the daft buggers still regonised me, think they even asked me if wanted the chicken burger, avoided the curry chip though.

Pizzas are sh1te, most chips are sh1te (in Ireland), so it'll have to be curry (which only turns to sh1te a few hours after you eat it).

Ooohh I'd love a dirty bag of chips from Sam's in Leixlip right now.
I wonder if they deliver to London?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 34,567 ✭✭✭✭Biggins

There is a chipper in my home town that used to make the best chips around. people would drive for miles (for years) and by-pass others between just for their chips alone.

In the last year or so they started using these artificial flower filled chips. Horrible things altogether.
A great shame. Already their business is nose-diving.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 986 ✭✭✭DJCR

All the way due to budget restraints...

9" Pizza with 2 toppings + Can of whatever delivered to your door for €5 !!!!! Nothing is going to beat that!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,221 ✭✭✭✭m5ex9oqjawdg2i

It's all good, but it really depends on your mood. If you want something spicey, sweet, savory, do you want something healthy etc etc. I prefer to go for a Thai than chinese, rarely go for an indian (too filling) and pizza is probably the most common take out food I get. It's mainly because it's cheaper, we have many pizza places around this area, apache, 4 star, dominos, pizza hut.
