The Guilt!

Have been really good lately when it comes to eating healthy/increasing exercise and have been losing weight at a slow and healthy pace. But then when nights like tonight happen when I hadn't planned on drinking, ended up having a few vodkas and then coming home and eating 3 bowels of cereal!! And although before my new change in diet this would have been a burger or something I can't help but feel guilty and worry that I'll have put on weight by the end of the week!! How do you deal with the slip-ups?? This wouldn't have phased me in the slightest 6 months ago!

Alcohol is a gateway drug! ;)

Draw a line, have two big glasses of water, throw out the box of cereal and put it behind you.

You never put the weight back on from one slip up, it's the 'Ah feck it, might as well go completely off the wagon' attitude that does it.

Learn your lesson and be extra good for the next few days.

I think you should plan slip-ups. I've found that having an occasional easter egg to look forward to helps to get you through and (more importantly) stops you feeling like you're never gonna have a chocolate bar again.

    Keep it up!

Thanks for the assurance and advice. I find that after doing so well with my discipline and getting all the weight loss compliments, the change in lifestyle has now taken over! I find myself constantly worrying about every little slip up and being ridiculous with planning meals. When I was losing most my weight I was careful but not anal and would enjoy the nights out and not feel guilty about having a few drinks or even a cheeky burger after, knowing that I have improved all other aspects of my diet so greatly. Now though with the success the guilt-free happy me has gone! I'm trying to change this with not avoiding treats, had some easter egg today! mind you I did have a bit of guilt and went for a brisk walk after. I guess it will just take time!

As far as alcohol is concerned a new study says the calories in it are metabolized different hence it wouldn't put on calories. I think it is probally what we eat as a consequnce of our reduced inabilities when influenced by alcohol. WILL POWER

Do you mean put on weight? I would say it depends on what type of alcohol, beer defintely puts weight on me but wine or vodka doesn't do me any harm.

been on a diet now 3 weeks, i go to WW. i used to eat bad food every single day either a curry, chiper of just mc donalds or whatever. my money was going down the drain and i wasn't happy with myself

but since i have been dieting i havent had anything bad really. i dont treat myself because i know i would feel too guilty because years ago when i was 16 i was dieting well i wouldn really call it that i wud starve myself have dominos or chiper and then get sick and now im afraid if i get chiper or something i would feel too guilty and i would get sick i dont wanna go back down that road

like my bf bought me weight watchers cakes and there only 2 points and im allowed 22 points a day and i wont even eat it because its a treat. I have been craving for a curry just some noodles and curry sauce :P and i really wish i could just give in, like im probably only eating 18 points a day so i have 4 saved everyday

how do i get rid of the guilt ? :P

Well I know about guilt. Have been eating really well for like years now and for the last two weeks everything has gone belly-up. I had a bad Easter cos I was never at home and therefore a lot of eat-what-others-are-eating stuff in shops and restaurants was eaten, plus sweaties. Then on Tu and We I was kind of craving the stuff that I'd been eating all Easter and then on Thu and Fri had visitors at home who brought around loads of sugary stuff with them. Then again at the weekend, rushing around no time to prepare meals in advance etc end up putting together a last-minute not-so-healthy stuff and also eat outside, anyways, for over 10 days now I have been eating really bad and I can already feel my belt a lot tighter than it has been for a while.

The funny thing is I am not even craving the stuff or looking for it, it's just either rubbed in my face or I am out and there is no "healthy" option to go for. On top of everything just about two weeks ago I got a "talk" from a few friends of mine giving me the typical "so long as you eat generally well there's no problem with a bit of sugar now and then blah blah" making me less motivated even.

Anyways I'll have to go back to the right track now.
