Just wondering do you get to be host much in matches ?

I was playing all day and wasn't the host even once

I hope the next COD has dedicated servers

yeah if i jump into a room and there are no scores , i usually get picked as the host, where as if i jumpinto a room where there already is a host it will continue with the same host until he leaves.

as soon as the game starts , hit pause .

Look at the list of players and on the right had side you will see Yellow/green bars (can't remember what colour they are) . The person that has the most bars is the host . He/she has a massive advantage over you . Mine seems to be always 3 bars .

Oh right, and so are those bars related to skill or bandwidth? Cause i always thought that was bandwidth.

What advantage do they have over you?

    not skill ,

do you ever notice in matches when you have pumped a few bullets into a lad but he doesnt die , then when you look at the killcam , you havnt even fired a shot or when you have been killed after you run around a corner ? Thats because of lag , you are not the host .

I really don't know that much about it , I just know I'm rarely ever the host ;)

Oh right so when you're the host you have the like less lag? I'll have to keep an eye out whether i'm host or not. I know i have been inn the past cause i get email over psn about it.

I hate being killed by the host, happnened me just the other night, came bombing around a corner, emptied half a clip into a guys chest, he shot me twice in the feet and down I went, makes no sense, was only when I saw the killcame that he'd shot me a few times that I hadnt seen from my angle as of the lag

I'll give you an example .....I was just in a match there on terminal .

I had a little bit of an orange bar , where everyone else has 4/full green bars .

    LOL wtf like

I don't think you experience any lag , but as I said I really don't know that much about it . One of the other lads might fill you in

Cant say ive notice shooting them a lot and then being killed with only a few shots but i've probably put that down to perks before.

Yeah i've definitely found myself being shot after i've stepped around a corner away from an attacker.

ya , but when you watch the killcam , you havnt gone round the corner at all :pac: Its like magic .

The game has no dedicated servers you see , like Bad Company 2 , that has so everyone is on a level playing field

Can anybody host properly with eircom? Anytime Im host theres lag for everyone else and then eventually I get kicked. I have a Nat Type 2. Have my ps3s Ip address in the DMZ and I still cant host:(

As soon as you choose your weapon press the back button ,if your quick enough you will see that the host has 4 bars and everyone else has 1 , then usually if its a good host everybody will go up to 4 a few seconds later.

Depending on what your upload speed is ,if its half a meg there should be no problem ,although you will probably rarely get picked.

Host in CoD games is very dependant on a high upload speed.

Host is basically the "server" and experiences NO lag. Bullets register instantly.

Everyone else who is connected to the host will experience different levels of lag, for example if I got host and my friend down the road was in my game he'd experience minimal lag, wheras someone from the UK would experience a bit more, someone from the US would experience alot.

Is there anything you can do to improve upload speed ?

How do you check it ? and what should it be ? Like I played all day yesterday , was never the host . My little bars would range from a small bit of orange to 3 green . Every single match without fail I have the least amount of bars

Dsl is coming through your phone line , I would ask for an upgrade if it was affordable , or change to upc if its available .

I'm with a small company that just covers my area, my upload is great , which is why i usually end up hosting.

how much would an upgrade be ?

They'd hardly give you an upgrade if you rang up complaining , would they ?

maybe I should just change to a different crowd

    http://www.eircom.net/broadband/products/bbpackages/2/?view=Standard

I think it says 29.99 amonth but its only 3meg down , and probably too much traffic on the line in peak hours, depending on where you live and how far away you are from the exchange.

I would reccommend changing away from dsl altogether.

What part of the country are you in ?
You could google what broadband is in your area and available to you.
If you could get upc it would probably be the best, alot of the lads i play it are with them.

Im with eircom. I pay an extra few euro for more Megabites or something.
    Download speed is 2.60 Mb/s
    Upload is 0.32MB/s
    Ping 77ms
Is that bad or good? Is more better yeah?

I get host once in a bluemoon but when i do im a different player, you can tell when people drop so easily, the only way ive ever got nukes is when im on host because otherwise i get killed by someone from europe with 10X better connection than me. On smart you can purchase a 1mb upload add on for a €10 a month which is a bit expensive.

The odd time yeah and when I do, I do brilliant then I eventually get kicked. NTL are the best apparently.
What exactly does the ping do??

would it ever be possible for them to shut down the servers for like a day and add dedicated servers? I know they're never gonna do it but for arguments sake is it possible?

All previous CoD games had Ded. Servers on PC. Console versions always have used Peer2Peer hosting.

Ping is rated in mili seconds - so your ping was 77 , there fore your running 77 ms behind the host assuming the host was from that exchange where you took the test from, the further you move away the highter it gets.

    This is my speed.

We should be getting way better speeds because we are on a 8mb package but its because we are a small bit away from the exchange... :/
