    Hello all,
I've been lurking around here and after reading various threads have decided that I would love to include more berries in my diet, to replace the higher sugar fruits that I so love.
My one problem is that, compared to apples, oranges etc., they are quite expensive.
Do people buy frozen berries and then defrost them, or am I just going to have to bite the bullet and pay more?
Also, regarding serving sizes; How many/what weight of berries counts as a serving? I find apples, kiwis, oranges, etc. quite good as they come in a 'portion' and I feel satisfied afterward as I know I've had my fill, but with berries I never really know how many to have.

    Thanks :)

I think there are two issues, one is they are seasonal, the other is they are expensive. You can get frozen berries in Tescos I think.

Yes, mine has lots of varieties, and far cheaper than fresh ones, and sometime frozen are more nutritious and always in great condition.

Check the frozen section in your supermarket. See if they have any berries. I like the ones from Boylans, where 400g of berries costs less than €2.50. I like the raspberries, you can munch them frozen, or chuck them straight into a shake.

    Blueberries...
Fantastic berry to consume...usually come @ special offer 2 for €6.00 in Dunnes.or Lidl ....Watch for the weight to compare I take them at breakfast either in porridge or on their own..about half a cup full. They are imported from Argentina, Colombia,France,Poland in ..fact all over the World. They can and are grown here in Ireland too.

I have planted 3 Blueberry bushes and hope to harvest fruit later in the summer. I got them at the Garden Centre in Clondalkin.

Better than Statins for cholestrol. no side effects

    Cheers
