Why? Bar staff have to work other times when nearly everyone people are off, like Easter, All through Christmas, Paddy's Day etc etc. Are they not entitled to a day off?

People who work in bars should expect to work weekends and with a bank holiday weekend it would be busier than normal. i work in retail and we close xmas day and thats it but i knew that when i took the job.

Your employer could be nicer than mine but I think it's normal. If I'm wrong then I have 8 years of backdated double pay coming my way.

Not workin this year, but when I worked for Woolworths I never got Good Friday off. It seems Sundays and holy days mean nothing here in England.

The point is good friday is a normal working day and most people work it and we should be happy to be working.

if everyone else is off work pubs should be open as they would be busy and people might pop in for a pint on there way home from Mass!

It is a UK public holiday so no.
