After having a read through Mysterious&Shy's thread, it has become apparent that there is a general mood that there is absolutely nothing to do in Waterford, barring get intoxicated.

Well, you're all absolutely correct, and I propose a group get-together for paintballing/go-karting. A group of 10 and we should be able to get a decent day out of it - either of the above activity, followed up with a few pints back in the blue (showboat/pool if anyone would be up for that)

    Anyone interested at all?

If not, I'll go back to filling my days alternating between porn and drunk. I'm happy either way.

Well since I basically hardy ever drink anymore I focus my days entirly on porn!

Seems like a good idea though, anyplace local to do them though of would wexford/cork be more likely?

There's a paint balling place outside Dungarvan (and a better one just outside new ross) and a karting place on the ORR (Is it still open)

Would be interested pending dates to make sure I'm home. Moreso in the paintball than the karting.

The karting was an idea from a good while ago, prompted by the farting place on the ORR. I enquired about that one and it seemed like the most amateur setup ever so we decided against it and went for just beers instead, as confirmed in this thread.

Then when organising the most recent beers, we gave the option of an activity but just beers was the preferred option. The karting was going to be organised for Kiltorcan.

So there's certainly a few who should be interested in karting and Kiltorcan is only a short drive away anyway. I'm always on for it, pending availability.

I'd also be interested in paintballing but moreso in karting.

years ago I used to do a fair bit of karting, tried a whole load of places and found nothing in the region that would compare with Watergrass Hill on the way into Cork. Better facilities, faster karts and a more challenging track.
So, I looked them up and they can do the whole karting, paintballing, etc deal:
    http://www.kartworld.ie/

Just over an hour's drive away. A bunch of us used to car share and do a grand prix.

I've nothing to do with the place and my back is way too messed up these days to get into a kart, much and all as I'd love to.

I have actually been to kiltorcan and can +1 that.

The karting side of it was a good laugh even though I sucked an incredible amount of balls at it.

I have also used the paintball place out by dungarvan and didn't think much of it tbh,

I hear there is one in Ross, anyone been there?

Delta force right ? I was there (about 3 years ago now though) thought it was very good - nice setting (forest) and a decent variety of games. Its more towards enniscorthy though than actually in ross.

Count me in for the Karting as long as it is Kiltorcan (Best track in the S.E by far)

Id imagine theres pro and cos for both.
Both cost around the 50 mark am I right?
Go Karting is about an hour id say?
Paintball would be the bones of a day so it would depend the time people have to spare.

Could we not just all go to Geoffs?:D

I wouldnt be bale to do the paintballing. I'd be to compeditive (sp?) if someone shot me i'd go mental lol. Karting would be savage.

hmmm.. Last time I went paintballing I ran out of gas twice and went through about €100 of paintballs. I could possibly be interested in doing this myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

If you go Rambo then you could easily blow €100 on bullets.

I'm not gonna lie I would be way more open to the paintball then karting.

I wonder could we draft in the Kilkenny and/or Wexford fourms, might get a few more numbers.

    Airsofting is class,

Way way better then paintballing IMO, I used to go paintballing about 4 times a year but I'm trying to get into airsofting now! Looking into getting my own gear and all, I must give that group a bell.

That place past Dungarvan isn't the best, I was there about 2 years ago.

The Duncannon Military Festival is on this weekend ziedth you should go down to it the three south east teams will be there with all the airsoft gear and you can see what suits you best . airsoft is a million times better then paintball and a hell of a lot cheaper too. you should def check it out

Count me in for Karting only if it is Kiltorcan - everywhere else is crap compared to it

Yep I'm on for that too. Like I said in my earlier post in the thread, I'd always be up for karting.

That's a real pity, I'm away this weekend! I would love to have gone down.

I think I may have said it on this thread but I am useless at karting, I'd consider it if yee were one short or something and I think I could draft in a few heads if needs be too.

Ah come on! You push the pedal and steer. It's not too hard! :D Anyway you won't get better unless you start going karting and practicing!

As far as airsoft goes, can this be done once off like paintballing? Or do you have to be in some sort of club? Shooting guns is great so wouldn't mind giving it a go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,081 ✭✭✭ziedth

It can be done as a once off if the site let's you rent the equipment, I really like it. It's a little geeky but if you really get into it it's a great day out.

As for the karting the last time I went down there there was a group of us doing a grand prix, there were like 14 year old girls outlapping me 1 in 5 laps :)

yeah it could jonny but you'd have to let some of the guys know your heading down so they could make sure there will be a gun you can have a lend off. we''ll all be in duncannon this weekend and theres a big game planned for next weekend, 40 or 50 players. even if you when to the site for a look and see what you think. post any questions on the facebook page or forum. if your interested in coming down some week ( ziedth & or jonny) i can give u a lift im from town and should have room

Sound, that would be my worry cause I live out in Kilmac!

I'm out in Dublin this weekend I might have a sneaky look for an AEG on my travels.

I'd really love to get into it, I played it with some mates in Dublin who are obsessed with it and they have mics for all the team that's you see special forces using. Was some laugh!

Was paintballing in Dungarvan for a Stag last weekend. Great fun but not the kind of thing you could do all the time, expensive and tough on the body.

Was mad for a karting yesterday, called Kiltorcan but they were fully booked until early evening :( Almost lost my faith but started googling... seems there is a new indoor place opened in Wexford :D

Can't compare it to Kiltorcan - totally different experience, indoor so no problem with weather, track is short and loaded with curves, slippery surface allows for some drifting... call in "technical" track. Started with like 22sec for a lap and managed to cut it down to 19sec, still not good enough to be listed, I suck! Pity the place is almost 1h away form here.

Anyone knows what happened to that place on ORR close to Greenstar (as they're called now)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,591 ✭✭✭STIG83

Would definitely do karting, was at it over the weekend, it some craic, Kiltorcan is the place to go, such a great track to drive on.

There is a new place in Carlow near the Talbot, they even spill some oil on the corners so you slide around them. Have heard its very good.

To be honest if ye are looking for something different forget the paintballing and try out some airsofting. Got back from a 36 hour event in dublin over the weekend, was deadly.
