Hi I got some spirulina today and tried taking a tiny teaspoonful. It clumped in my mouth and blocked my throat, coated my teeth and made me sick. It took ages to rinse the stuff away - had to brush my teeth for half hour to get the green away. It was absolutely foul.
So..what should I have done with it. Is there another way to take it?

I'd love to know this too. I bought some, as much as a green food colour as for the health aspect, but I never found a way to take it, and ended up dumping it.

This is another one of those 'wonder foods'.
Don't get me wrong, it certainly has a lot of different nutrients, but you'd need to eat bags and bags of it (mmmmmm, pond scum)
    Also it's possibly toxic

    spirulina/

You add it to smoothies and juices usually. I used to take it as tablets to save the hassle of having to taste the stuff. Why are you taking it? It's mainly useful as an alternative food based iron supplement for vegetarians and vegan. Maybe try google for more ideas on how to incorporate it into foods.

Thanks for all the replies and the link. It as recommended to me by my yoga teacher and I got carried away by her enthusiasm. However I think I will be dumping this stuff as I found it so foul I don't even think mixing it with something will help to be honest.

I used to try mix it with smoothies but it always made them disgusting, I then mixed it with applejuice and it was just about tolerable. Then I just started mixing it with a glass of water (it takes AGES to mix properly in a glass) and just knocked it back. You get used to the taste, but I just got the tablets (they are 100% spirulina with no additives to make it a tablet) and just knock a few back when I remember.

Then I was in my friends house the other day and he made me a spirulina and banana smoothie, it was actually VERY nice! In fact, I made a banana smoothie myself the next day and it felt like it would have been nicer with spirulina!

He didn't put too much in mind, just a tablespoon or so. Try it out adding a bit more at a time until it tastes good and not too much.
