howa trigger

    has anyone ever adjusted the trigger on a howa 1500 sporter in .308? i have read the manual and have tried twice to no amends can anyone help?

    I've adjusted the 1500 in .22-250, should be the same. It tricky, quite hit and miss, but with perseverence you can get it down to about 1 lb. Beware that you'll lose the safety catch and have to hone metal off the top end of the trigger until it starts working again. I would suggest leaving it with a gunsmith if you aren't used to metalworking. It's impossible to adjust without leaving a bit of creep too. Perhaps a replacement trigger is the way to go? I've been trying to source a Timney for my Howa, the factory trigger is a crap component in an otherwise very well built rifle.
