"According to an official at the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the explosion occurred about 10.45 pm local time, but the exact cause was not immediately clear."

    Your being a tad hasty.
Lets not barge into Flanders' bomb shelter just yet.

Has this got anything to do with Biggins saying he looked up plans to build a thermonuclear bomb?

This incident has the capacity to turn really nasty, very quickly.
The nutcase running things up the north will be all worried about saving face alone when the south retaliates.
He's not going to let this next possible incident slide! Its not as case of "if" but "when" the South does something back!
The Americans alone will be telling the south by phone "please take things calmly!"
Has this got anything to do with Biggins saying he looked up plans to build a thermonuclear bomb?
    :D

Reminds me of a thing a bloke said in work once after overhearing 2 lads talking about sex etc.

"what you want to do is get yourself a young one about 11"

    he says,

the look on their faces and the shock around the place,

"then another about 12 o clock"

    was his next line,

    was a classic :D

Well if there are nuclear strikes, it'll be on south Korea and or Alaska, so there's no need to go out 'picking up' three 18 year olds, or 18 three year olds....yet.

Unless of course you've all recently to move to the for-mentioned places, in that case. Panic away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,231 ✭✭✭✭ejmaztec

Sky's probably fucked up the translation. The nuclear strike probably means that there's a pay dispute in North Korea in the nuclear industry, and that they're all having amicable discussions over a meal of roast Alsatian.

The entire planet will get a Darwin Award.

    Should we worry much?

No not really, it hasn't even been confirmed that the ship was shot or not. Sometimes accidents happen. But even if it was shot by a NK vessel there has been numerous skirmishes between the two navies over the years and things never escalated beyond that. Still, any military exchanges between the two nations are never a good thing. As for the nuclear threats, well Kim Jong Apesh1tcrazy is constantly threatening nuclear retaliation for this or that. He's like a spoiled child throwing his toys at people, at this stage Seoul and Washington tend to just roll thier eyes at the warning of NK nuke strikes.

I hope (genuinely) that nothing comes of this latest incident.
One of many before it, it appears. The loss of big numbers of possible lives though will help decide what the reaction will be.

The Mail is being war-like and reporting (here) it was the north and their missiles.

Hopefully calmer heads will prevail and remember M.A.D.* and what it would bring.

hmmm, if we stopped being a neutral country and allied ourself with America when
the war starts with North Korea we should be able to create a fair few jobs.
hopefully getting us back to Celtic Tiger levels. :)
