TVGuide.com has an exclusive season 3 tidbit from Alan Ball. It’s vague, but juicy.
“Somebody is going to bite the dust and it’s going to be really good to see them get what they deserve,” Ball says. The only clue the Blood boss would reveal is that “it’s a person we’ll be happy to see go.”

Damn, saw the thread title and thought this was starting sunday for some reason!

A show that should be absolutely terrible[and is most of the time] but can be riduculously entertaining.

Mariana Klavena has revealed details about her return to True Blood.
Klavena plays Bill Compton's maker Lorena but refused to say whether her character was responsible for Bill's abduction at the end of the second season.
However, she told MTV that Lorena and Bill (Stephen Moyer) will have a number of scenes together in the third season.
"We do spend a good deal of time together in season three," she said. "I'm hoping that the fans will be a little bit surprised by it, because there will be some new dynamics in our relationship that are new and [have to deal] with that cliffhanger."
She continued: "I think you'll see some sides of Lorena that will surprise you. She'll be in certain situations where you think she'll do something and she will not."
Klavena promised more flashbacks and suggested that "succubus costumes" will make a return to the show.
She also hinted that Lorena and Bill's relationship will change.
"I think you can definitely expect much more turbulence between them," she said. "But it's not out of the realm of possibility for them to see each other in new ways. I don't know if they'll ever be at peace with each other, but there might be some real, heartfelt connection."
True Blood will return for its third season in the US on Sunday, June 13.

I don't really count the above to be spoilers, there not really ruing the plot line for the show. Someone is going to die, someone dies nearly every episode. And the introduction or return of a new character isn't really spoilerish. Now if I said Sukie becomes a vampire in the first episode and Bill comes out of the closest (or coffin) and announces he's gay and always had a crush on Eric that would be a spoiler.

Not watching the trailers for fear of spoilers. The mini-episodes are great though.

I'm so going gay for Eric....

He's also in Lady Gaga's video for paparazzi... so wanted to be Lady Gaga at the start of the video after spotting it was him..... well before he pushed her off the balcony :D

For a more serious role, check out Generation Kill. He is the main character and for a added bonus its brillant. Its by HBO so that probably landed him the True Blood role.

Yep, felt the same way. Was really looking forward to season 3, but the trailer just felt meh.

Hopefully it was just badly put together.

Laughed when I saw him in the Lady Gaga video alright. He was great in Generation Kill alright.

I enjoyed the trailer, however it appears badly put together :pac:

If you don't wan't any spoilers don't watch the second trailer. It seems to reveal
that Bill will be missing for a while?

That's why god invented youtube! You don't need to watch the whole movie:

Just watched season 1 and 2 of this over the past three days and I really enjoyed it! I remember watching the first 5 minutes of the first episode about a year ago and I thought it was crap but pressure from a friend to give it a shot and I was hooked!

The copious amounts of sex and nudity is annoying sometimes as it takes away from the story but that's probably just me.

I have a few questions that I just wanted to clear up for the start of season 3 and thought that maybe you guys could help!

    - Why is one drop of vampire blood enough to put you into an euphoric state, a whole vile enough to make your privates bloat/fall off but drinking loads like Sookie and Sam is a healing elixir? Why isn't there any side affects?

    - When LaFayette went home to his place after the whole torturing thing at Fangtasia how come (although he never invited him in and LaFayette even revoked his invitation) Eric could pass his hand over the threshold of the house by putting his hand through the window????

    - Why did Godric die? I watched that scene like 3 times and all I got were words to the effect that he was quitting. What did I miss?

Sorry for these stupid questions in my defense I watched the 2 series almost entirely in French (gets over the problem of the southern drawl as they all speak with "normal" french accents!) so that might explain the stupid questions! Thanks in advance!

P.S Am I the only one who doesn't like Jason, doesn't see the big whoop about Eric and the only one who actually gives a damn where Bill is and that he and Sookie won't be together???

    - Why is one drop of vampire blood enough to put you into an euphoric state, a whole vile enough to make your privates bloat/fall off but drinking loads like Sookie and Sam is a healing elixir? Why isn't there any side affects?

This is an extract from Charlaine Harris' website:
Here goes: everything’s variable when it comes to vampire blood being ingested by humans. There is no formula that says, for example, that 2 ounces of vamp blood will make every blood junkie go nuts. Vampire blood is like any other street drug in that respect. The variables include the age of the blood (how long it’s been out of the vampire), the age of the vampire, and the mental condition and previous drug use of the imbiber. Blood taken straight from the vampire does not necessarily make the drinker high, unless he or she is already an addict. A blood bond may be formed when a vampire and a human exchange blood, though often it takes more than once. It also may depend on the emotional bond existing between them.
    - When LaFayette went home to his place after the whole torturing thing at Fangtasia how come (although he never invited him in and LaFayette even revoked his invitation) Eric could pass his hand over the threshold of the house by putting his hand through the window????

I am not so sure - perhaps it's one of a couple of inconsistencies, such as Eric's hair being shorter than when the show began. Perhaps, a vampire needs to cross the threshold 100% before the invitation rule is applicable, or perhaps the vampire's unbeating heart is the part that needs the actual invitation so an arm or a leg can pass?
    - Why did Godric die? I watched that scene like 3 times and all I got were words to the effect that he was quitting. What did I miss?

He died, or rather chose to face the sun, because he felt he had become more human than vampire. He no longer thought like a vampire and as such was inflicted with human emotions - compassion, shame, guilt etc
In the books, Godric killed (amongst other things) children, so on the show it can be believed that he felt immense guilt for these acts.

I was taught a long time ago that no question is too stupid not to be asked ;)

Wow interesting thoughts! Thanks very much! I do realize it's a show about vampires so suspension of disbelief is expected from the get go just little niggley things like that annoy me sometimes i.e the very few times I catch them!

Though the theory for the blood affecting people in different ways just seems to me like a sorta get out of jail free card to kinda suit each individual story.

If I recall correctly, I think Bill's blood did have an effect on Sookie when she first took it. She was full of energy and up at the crack of dawn mowing the lawn etc. and all her senses were heightened.
In the books when Sookie has had vamp blood she is stronger and has quicker reflexes
I get the feeling the producers are focusing more on the other storylines as opposed to just Sookie
unlike the books which appear to just follow Sookie

I was just about to ask the same question

I will be staying away from this thread from June 13th & will sulkily wait for FX to catch up sometime this century

True Blood has cast Tony winner Denis O’Hare (Take Me Out) as the king of Mississippi.
The veteran actor’s name may not be a household one, but you’ve for sure seen him. He’s appeared in roughly a million movies (Milk, Duplicity, Quarantine) and pretty much that many TV series, too (most notably a 10-episode run on Brothers & Sisters).
O’Hare joins True Blood as a series regular. He’ll debut early into the show’s third season.

HBO don't have ad breaks do they? I've only ever watched network television in the US and it was such an awful experience I wouldn't recommend anyone watch a show they like that way. But you're safe, I think. Enjoy it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭shinny

Watched it this morning bright and early. That much Eric was *nearly* too much to handle at that hour of the morning, nearly! Lol at Sookie's face.

Me thinks the Queen is going to cause Eric an awful lot of trouble over selling the V.

The scene with the guys feeding off Bill at the start was pretty nasty.

Sam dreaming about Bill was funny, poor Sam didn't know what to do!

Loving Jessica and Pam as usual.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,788 ✭✭✭tvnutz

Good start to the season, should be interesting with werewolves and why they tried to kidnap Bill.

Good to see Pam promoted to series regular as well. I have a feeling the Queen might not make it past this season, she seems to be in over her head a bit.

Also I just cannot stand Tara, she is the most annoying character. Of course though she will be stopped from killing herself when really I think the show would be better off without her.
