LABEL READING ADVICE

    I am used to reading labels for a weigh watcher diet ie saturated fat content, but I have no idea what I should be looking for lable wise when trying to eat foods with a low GI rating.
    Any advice please.

    Heres an overview of GI http://www.glycemicindex.com/
    Click on database so you can search by food for its GI value

    On labels you will see a value for carbohyrates and underneath "of which sugars". If the "of which sugars" make up a large portion of carbohydrates then its generally it's a low GI food and vica versa.

    Basically I think it comes down to how much of the carb calories come from sugars. The more calories from sugar, the higher the GI rating.
