Musicians wanted for real band - Serious Opportunity [MOD WARNING IN POST #1]

Hey all,

looking for mid 20s-30s musicians to start working on the live side of my band.

I am currently talking to multiple labels in the US/UK/Ireland. We will be putting out a record this fall and touring heavily to promote it.

Realistically, I'll be trying to talk some musicians I know in a few Irish bands into going on the road, but would prefer finding a contributing member.

I need a guitarist and a keyboard player.

This is a real opportunity, but don't come to me just to get paid.... I can do it with a laptop if I need to... :P

I auditioned 50+ people in Ireland/UK before I found a good enough singer. This won't be first through the door.

I don't really think you're what I'm looking for.

Sorry if I have standards... The last time I posted an add (for a vocalist) I got dozens of responses from people that couldn't sing.

I don't want and can't use people that are beginners. I want people that are ready to suceed.

If you think that means I have a big ego, fair enough, but ask yourself mr musicial genius, do you want to play in a band with people that suck, with people with no ambition or with people with no ego?

I don't.

finally got a chance to listen for myself. had to see what all the fuss was about.

Your singer has pitching problems. All due to her breathing technique. Cleanable, but why bother when you auditioned 50 people. You must have picked the right one.

You've done a great job at making a song that sounds like a bad massive attack attempt. Im a big radiohead fan but this tune had no soul, no emotion, and more importantly - no groove. The preset sounds you are using are clashing due to phasing issues, but thats just the start of the problems with your recordings. Its nothing to be demanding a "wow me" out off.

I reckon you are better off doing it with the laptop like you suggested earlier. You have a long road to go yet boyo.

If you've ever posted an ad on here and say, "all comers welcome" you get a HUGE number of responses. I don't have the time to audition 100 guitarists, especially ones not willing to commit, not able to play their instruments, people with no experience or people just looking to play music for fun.

Thus REAL BAND. A band that's not just "for fun".

I also want people that have a bit of ego.

In case this thread hasn't shown you, some people in the real world aren't particularly nice. In fact, some people choose to be jerks, for fun.

If you can't deal with that, with a smile on your face, I don't want you.

Show me you're brave and want to be part of something I'm busting my hump to do and I'll give you a fair shot.

That's also not crazy or egotistical; it's honest.

The funny thing is, I'm getting a lot of responses from people that are scratching their heads at all of the negativity.

For those of you worried that I'm a secret ego-maniac, go look in music production. You'll find me being extremely helpful and asking repeatedly for people's advice. Hardly the behaviour of someone that thinks he's better than others.

At the end of the day, I've been through this before. It doesn't REALLY aggravate me, but it's a shame that my ad has pounced on by people who are egotistical enough to try and publicly correct people for having an ego.

Exactly, you have to be really specific and brutal to weed out a lot of the deadwood and in some cases just to save yourself from wasting time with 90% of the musicians around. If people have a problem with ego, **** em, stick to what feels right to you and the right people will eventually find you.

Hi Lads
Give milan a break, he's got an ego and wants to go somewhere and that's great get out there do do it mate , i'm in a band and we've been plugging away around europe and it's hard when you've to find a new member but
not to wade in at the end with a point , but if your in contact with record companies and putting out a record with them , then why are you looking for members yourself and why is your record company not setting you up with session's to come in , that's what usually happens and also where's your manager/ booking agent ect., surely they should be doing this on your behalf.

like we'd be a small band and we'd still have a manger, that looks after this stuff now.

but anway

there has been a few offers in that vein, and like I said in the OP, I will probably go the route of having musicians already in bands fill in while I sort out something more permanent.

I was just TRYING to see if I could get lucky and find a musical soulmate.. :P

The last point is that while I've had a few people contact me about managing I've said no until the label thing is sorted. If I get a manager pre-label they'll just take a cut. :P Also, (and this may be the final nail in my coffin on this thread) we're not playing shows until we have to. And by have to I mean, for industry folks or for money...

Considering the response I've had already and my previous experiences I think I'll wait until after I finalise a deal... besides, my money's already going toward a solicitor.

If you've nothing constructive to post then just don't post. Take it to the Ranting & Raving forum and stick up a thread about musicians with egos or something.

the most insecure & unhappy people, psychiatric studies have found. I'm sure you're good at what you do but you need to show more respect for other muso's & people in general rather than coming on boards like this posting drivel like on this thread. I've met plenty people like you in bands etc so I've a pretty good idea what you're like. basically people with egos who think their better than the other guys in the band, & everyones elses' talents & opinions on music are discarded & irrelevant. Sometimes these people are genuinely talented but more often they're not. i've no problem with a person who is passionate about their music & is seeking people to meet their standards. thats fine. But what I don't like is arrogance & bull****. You're music sounds decent but it wouldnt be my cup of tea to judge properly. maybe you are the real deal, i dont know. And no, i'm not one bit jealous, i wish you all the success in the world.

I think we've finally found the difference in our approaches Kenny. I take this seriously.

The first clue was in the title of the thread.

No it's a shame you won't meet me for a pint, because that would be fun. But at least we've sorted out our differences. I am serious; you think everything online is a joke.

That's cool; I have no problem with seeing life as a big joke, but it's just not where I am right now.
