    You're welcome ;)

We've about 4 years of hard work put into this!

Great work John, hope you don't mind me posting the link up here. I was showing it to a few corrib veterans and they were seriously impressed. There's a few shallows out in the middle of the lake they reckon are great for fly fishing but are impossible to find, they spotted them straight away on the charts!

Corrib is no different to any other water system. Do a quick Google, it'll save me typing all day!

These maps on my gps makes it so easy to troll. I deep troll, so handy knowing exactly where the shallows are. Gives you a lot more confidence to explore the lake.
Really handy for doing the salmon run along the north shore close to the bank. That was only one the locals could do before, but now anyone can do it!

The wall chart is really good quality too, really heavy paper and well worth the money.

Many thanks, you are one of the very few generous souls! Some people must think that this utility fell from the sky! I dare not count the costs we have incured so far

I was shocked to hear how few people gave a donation. In fairness, I didn't till I got that email. Hopefully a few more people give something after that.
Would you charge people to download it?

Nope, it goes against our ethics. However, freeloaders and tightwad's grind our gears! People are free to donate as much as they like.

We are delighted to announce that the latest version of CorribCharts has now been optimized for the Nuvi and will be released shortly as a separate "Nuvi" installation. You now have access to depths and other marine features. While it is not as versatile as the proper marine version running on non-automotive units, it gives access to all the information needed for fishing or boating. This Nuvi version is expected to be released by the end of January. Current subscribers will automatically receive this updated version. If you are not a subscriber and wish to obtain the latest version of CorribCharts which will include the Nuvi version please click here

See attached screenshot of CorribCharts running on a Garmin GPSMap 551s and a Garmin Nuvi 1300

Want to obtain CorribCharts for your Garmin G2 GPS or Nuvi but don't know how, or scared by technology? No problem! Drop us an e-mail and we will post out an SD Card with the latest version of CorribCharts installed. Just insert into device and go!

Cannot say for certain as they haven't been tested on that particular GPS, but additional maps can be added using MicroSD Card so there's no reason why they wouldn't

    The charts are discontinued :(
This is a pity, as it's an amazing service.

    Dear CorribCharts user,
It is with huge regret that I must announce, due to demand by Trevor Northage, that as of 13/07/2011, the CorribCharts project will no longer continue.

In no way do I wish or want the project to cease, but Trevor has stated that he no longer has any affiliation with the CorribCharts project and I do not have the time to continue with the project myself. I have included e-mail from Trevor to me to prove that this is not my personal wish. As the project was created with both our sets of data, if I continue the project in the future I will be starting from scratch (although that has not been ruled out)

I would personally like to thank you for all your assistance, donations and support. If I can in any way of assistance to anyone on Lough Corrib or provide information, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can still be contacted on corribcharts@gmail.com as it was a personal e-mail account which I simply facilitated the use of by the CorribCharts project.

    Kind regards,
    Niall O' Flaherty

    Hi Niall,

Please remove any data of my provenance on the website, together with all product to which I hold published copyright. This includes both the digital and paper charts, including screenshots and sidescan data. As of 0630 this morning, Wed 13th July 2011, any apparent or perceived partnership is dissolved. Property held in common (Garmin 551s) can be purchased from CorribCharts at an agreed price. The name “CorribCharts” is held jointly, and I do not give my required permission for its continued use by you or any other individual or group. In view of this, the continued use of the name will be relinquished by both of us. You do not have the copyright holders permission to carry on selling either the digital chart or paper chart under any guise or name, or by any method. Any data for which you have been solely responsible and that has been gathered using entirely your own equipment will of course be removed from the chart. You are at liberty to use any such data as you will, similarly for myself.

This action, as you are probably well aware, has become inevitable – and should resolve any differences that have become apparent.

    All the best

    Trevor

Ha Daroxtar. I'll pass on the little dig, it's a fair shot. :-)

From what I read the guys who produced the original maps are both not permitted by each other to sell them now. Is that correct? Or am I misunderstanding that notice and one of them can continue with the maps?

My fear is the project goes down the tubes in a way that makes it impossible to obtain what is presumeably the best Corrib map made to date. I do not know if they were free (it said so) or pay to use but free to download (possible) shareware style.

If you made a donation, you would have received the charts. For now, they are unavailable.

Good deals here till the end of the season, http://www.corribwave.com/ and he can arrange a boat man if you need one.
If the weather behaves you should get fishing in August through out the day on a variety of methods, wets, dries and the dap. The fish will wont be shoaling up in any specific area yet so fishing deep to shallow around the islands will produce.

    Cheers Stylie. Thats the Job,

Il have a look into it. Still trying to decide between Kerry or galway on the west for some late season fishing.

Lough Currane has got me inspired, Have you fished around the West's River's much.

Would love to try some river fly for the wild brownies also. Any info on that would be great if you have any.?

I was enquiring as to purchasing a hard copy of the charts, at the time I don't think there was an option to download. It was pretty much a year to the day that I enquired as it was on account of the guys in Corrib angling giving me the details on july 12th last year - they used to have a chart on the wall but had no idea where they got it from.

I dont fish the rivers in the West at all, well the very odd time when its blowing a gale on Corrib. Guys do catch big trout and salmon off the rivers going into Corrib at the end of the season.
End of season for Currane is slow fishing, I dont fish it but my friends do and they either fish high up in Waterville or not at all. End of season fishing can be bad on the great lakes aswell depending on the weather during the month, an Indian style Aug and Sept is ideal as the trout are shoaling but not making the runs up the river yet, and they get very aggressive if the conditions are right, also any salmon I have seen risen in a drift have always been in Sept

They were originally free a few years back, they donation only. Not many people made donations though, so they didn't get any updates.
My last computer went tits up, that's why i'm glad I have them in my inbox! But the user agreement does say i'm not allowed distribute them. They seem pretty strict about it too.

Version 1.20 of the Corrib Chart will be available in approx 2 weeks. version 1.19 is available as the current version. As usual it runs on Garmin GPS, Lowrance GPS (still prototype), and PC. The paper version is also available.
The project to chart the Corrib continues - it never stopped - but now simply has a new website. Don't beleive everything you read on the internet ! Please register on the site if you want copies.

Whats the cost of copies ?
Also can you explain the sidescan of the salmon a little, I find it interesting to see how they showed up, maybe a chart of the bay and how the sidescan matches up to it ? Also I have never heard of Claggan Bay, is it up the north end around Dooras ?

Thanks for the reply, I dont have a GPS but your charts would be very useful for anyone starting off fishing the lake, be it trolling or fly fishing. A good replacement to yrs spent on the lake learning the shallows and drop offs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34 anglingcharts

The Android chart of the Corrib is now available. If you are interested in a copy, drop me a line on the website.
It has ALL the features of the marine chart, but due to the obvious fact that you are chosing to run it on your telephone instead of a chartplotter, it is only going to be as accurate as your phone GPS !!. It should not be used for navigation, but will help you find the deeps and shallows (it's fully contoured).

There are also completely new A1 size wallcharts of the Lake for those of you who can't get enough of it ! These have the Oughterard Islands to Inchagoill as a high resolution inset.
Please visit www.anglingcharts.com for all the information.

Apologies for the late response, only seeing this now.

CorribCharts is back online, and has been for some time now! CorribCharts is available for download from www.corribcharts.com

The website is also back fully running which contains some interesting and useful info about Lough Corrib for visitors

To those who supported (morally, intellectually and financially from donations) - I thank you. It is because of you (and a good legal team) that CorribCharts got back online so quickly. I won't go into the details of why the website was down for a period, that's something i'll happily discuss over a tea & sandwich beside the fire at Inchagoill some time :)

I've put some facinating and unique 3d imagery of various areas of the Corrib onto the website www.anglingcharts.com . These show clearly some of the fascinating structure of the lake, and will show you where some of the deep holes and dropoffs are. The sidescan survey of the Corrib River was recently completed, there's rather more than the odd shopping trolley to see! You'll need to check back shortly for a look.

There are also beautiful new paper charts of Ballynahinch Lake, L. Bola and L Scannive. I've also made GPS charts of these lakes, just for the craic - if you want one just ask - I'm not asking anything for them !

    Tight lines

    Trevor
