camping is crap unless you're crap at the game. So in other if you camp your basically crap at the game and need to camp to get a kill.

Tactical camping as in moving but stopping for a few seconds in place to place to get in a kill is not what I'd call camping even though plenty would say it is!

Yeah at the end of the day Free for all is the first to 30 kills or the person with the most kills which ever way possible ( Except for boosting of course)...

If someone wants to stay in one position and try and get kills let them...They have the same right as the people running around with akimbo shotguns on marathon...

Yeh but it's still annoying when you're beaten by someone with a negative kd

Ehhh, it depends, someone playing as a sniper and is genuinely good at it I have no problem with (as sneaking up on them, killing them then smashing their insertion is fcuking hilarious) but those people who camp with shotguns are pathetic, I came across a guy 4 times lying prone in a building corner with akimbo shotties the other night, he never had the sense to move once he killed anyone so everyone was just hunting him down, it was great fun :D

Imho, you're forced alot of the time to camp on certain maps - skidrow especially. You would have to be a very very berry merry good player to win there 75-80% of the time FFA without camping

One thing I did unintentionally, and it might be worth a try! I found boosters in the corner outside on terminal and without thinking announced it over the mic to everyone. I then stayed there for 10 seconds and everyone on the map came down to that very same corner. Easiest 9 killstreak I ever got...Pavelow inbound

Would you not be better off waiting for them to respawn and killing them again?

First off this is not cod 4 where the maps were small and camping was frowned at.
    Different gamemodes requires different tactics.
FFA should you camp ...hell yeah , i prefer going 30-5 rather than 30-35.
TDM depends on your skill level and that of your teammates, if your good then run them over if not , then defend a large area of the map.
Domination ,my favourite gamemode , and probably the easiest game mode to spawn -camp the opposition.
Demolition , if your defending then of course your going to hold a defensive position unless your team-mates have that covered and your free to run around .
Hardcore . I really hate this mode for the simple reason i find it the worst game mode for camping, and the flip side you have people with akimbo umps/p90s pre-firing every corner.

Mw2 i think has been made more campy by the larger maps , bringing in the nuke , as well as many other killstreaks that you are rewarded for getting X amount of kills.

i caught 2 guys boosting in hardcore tdm in terminal i got a 11 kill streak and got my chopper gunner then got to 21-0 and some lad killed me when i had nuke on i was sickened

Camping is for noobs, whats the point playing the game if you're going to camp? Theres no actiopn for you.

There is one map i like to camp, and that is Favela.

Theres multiple ways to play the game...Camp and move or run around with guns blazing, either way each has it's draw backs...As long as you arn't boosting I couldn't give a **** which you play!!!

most would disagree but i dont see the problem with ''camping''.
ive started to play hardcore team deathmatch alot lately and for me this is the game for campers its a campers paradise no radar or killcam makes it easier to stay in the good spots and notch up a good amount of kills while keeping your death rate low. maps like rundown, invasion, afgan and airport are great for this.
ive found before that the scar h gun that im currently using would run out of ammo very quick and wouldnt be great for the camping game and with only 1 claymore and 2 noobs you wouldnt last very long so what i did was wack on scavenger pro and i was sorted i killed one eijet 8 times in a row in invasion from planting claymores at the door each time i killed him,id say he was cracking up but he was dumb enough to fall for the same trick everytime.
i would agree thats it annoying as some lads are really good at it but its no worse than sniping imo both are as equally annoying but skillfull at the same time if you do it right.

so my tips to any would be camper looking for a few easy kills
    scar H as primary
    scavenger,coldblooded and ninja as perks
    claymore as explosive
and finally grenade attachment on primary gun

enough of the geek talk anyway
    happy camping:P

I dont mind when people use camping as a tactical thing, like on terminal, where one guy will get up on the high point in the main open part that overlooks the walkway with the bookshop, and get whoevers coming out there, while the others defend the main entrance with the burger place and the other end with the doors that lead out to the runway, or in estate, sure everyone camps once theyve got control of the big house, its the entire point of that map to defend a good position. but when its just some random guy sat behind a barell in a spot on the map its annoying, I love spawning near them if they get me then firing a throwing knife into the back of their head as they reload. Campers you just have to deal with, same as the guys who run about with akimbo shotties and have no strategy other than random melee attacks and running into somewhere like a lunatic.
I like changing how I play on the fly, I have a standard all rounder class with a Scar-H and grenade launcher, claymores, stun grenades, stopping power, lightweight and ninja, that does me for most scenarios, and a light, runabout type one with marathon, lightweight and ninja for legging about small maps like rust or scrapyard.

quite sad really , people camp because they have to , to get kills or theyre so worried about their k/d . Theyre useless at the game . I cannot understand why anybody would go out and pay for a game like COD to just sit in a dark corner/hide in the long grass on say a map like underpass, just waiting for "proper players" to run by and shoot them

"Camping is no worse than sniping"

lol that is without a doubt the dumbest comment I've ever read on this site .

I only camp campers if you know what I mean.Pisses them off no end to keep coming back for a revenge kill and I have a claymore in the spot where they camp:D

Tbh I think camping is a legit form of gameplay(just expect a low K/D thats all),and if your anyway half decent they will only get you once.Whinging like a b1tch about campers is a waste of time.If they get the better of you,it says more about your skills than theirs

whats quite sad is people getting upset over it and abusing other people down the mic another thing i get great pleasure in. useless at the game??? how??? the whole point of tdm is to rack up kills to help your team win and by keeping your deathcount low your not giving the other team points same with ffa.krudler is spot on about defending key areas in estate(house) thats how you win games but idiots of the game will only see it as camping.!!!''proper'' players?? thats a joke so to be a proper player im to run around in the open??? get a grip mate funny thing is im notching up loads of kills and getting a very good kill/death ratio lowest deaths in most games and helping my team win but im not proper because i dont play the way you play.

sniping nothing against it but dont see what the differance is in someone in say wasteland at the graveyard snipe someone from a distance move into long grass wait a few secs kill again and move to another spot sounds like ''camping'' to me but if your skilled at it then do it!!!.

u didnt i was just putting it out there anyway to say its a tactical thing to gain points and exp rather than a lack of ability in the game.

I think that, there are Campers and CAMPERS!

I dont mind when a guy takes over a zone and patrols it or defends it, that could be called camping but it does require some skill, sitting in a corner waiting for someone to pass doesnt (i think)

I play FFA a lot, at the beginning of every game I always look for boosters, so instead of starting the game straight away I normally wait a few seconds and spectate, OMG what you see sometimes, for ex, underpass, people hiding between the grass with a heartbeat sensor waiting for someone to pass to shoot them, the worst things is that, if the guy is too quick dont you think he is going to follow him and kill him, he will rather stay there, dont move and wait for the next one to pass rather than following him and tri killing him, then when he finally gets an easy kill, he will move a few meters and wait for the next victim.

I find this a bit sad, I understand that, when you are new to this you might feel is the only option, but sometimes I see experienced players doing this and God is painful to watch.

Said this I must say that I still dont care what people do, to me is like another challenge. Makes the game more difficult, I mean, I dont play to have a perfect K/D ratio, I play to have fun, I dont use weapons that would make killing people easy, I rather use weapons that require some skills, maybe is just me but when, for example, I win a game playing like this I feel better about myself, I mean, I know is just a gave but I do get some sort of feeling of accomplishment that I dont get when, for ex, I use my TAR21 with a silencer (a beast of a weapon), that's y I dont like camping and I'd never boost. Its probably just me!

It is a lack of ability in the game , the reason you camp is because at some point it got to a stage where you just got sick of dying everytime you got into a 50/50 . The object of TDM is to get a certain amount of kills in a certain amount of time . ie - quicker than your enemies ......and you lying down looking through the sights of your gun maybe not seeing an enemy for 1/2 mins is pathetic . Although youre not dying youre not adding to your teams point tally either . Its no way to play the game .

its a game, people have differant tactics of playing by you constantly getting annoyed by campers you should question your own tactics!!! how is it a lack of ability anyway?? im so used to the maps now that i know great spots in the heart of the action, im getting over a thousend points for my team each game lack of ability think not. it is a way to play the game if you know how!!! yea i do have stinkers and then i do have good games but its a better tactic than say running around getting kill die kill die kill kill die die die die die and you end up with 11/20 or 18/25 ok you have gained 1800 points for your team but you have given them 2500. id rather 18/2 or 12/1 meself. i play for enjoyment and i enjoy playing like that some enjoy playing sniper others running man with knife others going gun ho or noob tubing its a game!!!

Youre right , its just a game . If you get killed you get killed , if your team loses you lose . Who gives a sh1t . I just cannot understand how you can enjoy the game just sitting there looking through the sights of your gun waiting for someone to run by . You don't have to run around like an idiot either .

i wouldnt sit there for the whole 9 minutes waiting and id agree it would be boring i would/do occasionally move throughout the game setting up shop at certain spots on certain levels.

I enjoy the tactical side of things, I really, really hate when people dont get the whole "team" aspect of TDM, team means hold and defend a position or go on the offensive, not all run off in seperate directions at the beginning and get killed in a few seconds or try to get yourself a killstreak reward. imo the killstreaks should be an airdrop with a random reward in it, and thats it. Then you'd get rid of the boosters and you wouldnt spend half the game being killed by random predator missiles and ac130 fire.

I like accompanying teammates into buildings, working together to get kills on tdm and hold positions on domination, I cant get why people secure a position then tear off around the map as they're more interested in their killstreaks than the actual objective of the game, the other night me and 1 other guy defended a position on Quarry, the whole team were gunning for us and we spent the match setting up claymores, standing back to back covering the entrances and trying to get back as quick as possible if either of us got killed, the rest of the team were off just killing people to get their killstreaks.

    So imo:
Holding/covering a position for tactical purposes=playing the game with a purpose (depending on the match type)

Sitting behind some grass with a heartbeat sensor or tucked behind a crate or stairs in a random part of the map hoping to kill anyone who walks past= camping.

I'll admit I did camp a bit when i first started playing, but thanks to IW's ludicrous matchmaking system (the very first game I ever played, not a shot fired, I was in a TDM with guys not one of which was lower than level 50), needless to say I got 1 kill the entire match and it was complete luck. As I got to know the maps and strategys a bit better I got more adventurous and started getting out there and causing mayhem :D

I dont blame the completely unexperienced players for camping at all, its the guys who are at level 60-odd and know the maps inside out that should be ridiculed for sitting in one spot for an entire game.

This must be the only game ever where someone can be at near prestige level and completely suck at the game, purely because they've just been boosting their stats the whole time instead of playing it properly.

I'm at level 35, still fairly noobish to some people, but at least I got there myself, not standing in front of a friend with riot shields emptying clips into each other:mad:
