I think I had built it up too much in my head, I couldn't wait to see it. And then when I saw it...I found it boring.

One of those films where I found myself gazing at my watch the whole time which is never a good sign.

I like Bill Murray in it though. It's definitely not a bad movie...it's just not half as good as I expected it to be.

I say keep watching it until your opinions about it suck less :pac:

Sorry for the hostility, but I luurrvveee this movie :p

Does anyone else have a problem with the ending of my best friends wedding??

I first watched it the night Film4 was launched. Sexy Beast was also on. :)

Anyway, Bill Murray + Scarlett Johansson + epic soundtrack + amazing cinematography = brilliant film.

I also thought that the script and general characterisation were just stellar. It felt really accomplished or something.

By any chance did you watch any of the videos where people have deconstructed the audio to figure out what Bill says to Scarlett in the final embrace in the last scene?

Ah yeah I loved the script as well, the general disillusionment and boredom portrayed by the film's characters really resonated with me at the time. :pac:

No I haven't watched any of them... I dunno if I will, I kinda liked the enigma produced by not letting us hear it... Hope it's actually repeated on Film4 during the week now, I've a real urge to watch it again. :D

I wont force you to watch it, but I think it kinda of wraps it up nicely. Makes the ending somewhat more optimistic.
Regardless though, I thought the film was very emotionally effecting. Really touched a nerve with me for some reason.

I want to watch that film so bad. It has an amazing cast: Al Pacino, Ed Harris, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey. I read that Lemmon's character was the inspiration behind the Simpsons's Gil. It's never on TV though. :(

    Watched Watchmen last night.

I liked it but some of the music just seemed out of place like All Along the Watchtower (Jimi Hendrix version).

The Times They Are a-Changin' was perfect for the intro montage though. :)

    Overall it was good.

Next up, Let the Right One In.

Yeah, I was going to say, with a cast like that, it's strange it's never on. The DVD's already migrated from my house to my Aunt's! Lemmon's character and Gil are pretty much the same, but that wasn't in my mind at all during the film because his performance is so good. The more I think about it, the better it is.

I've spent most of my day doing a bad Al Pacino impression.

Good film. Try the book as well. The film leaves out some of the more graphic scenes from the book and one of the main characters isn't in the film either

huge +1 to The Watchmen, that's one of the best opening montages I've ever seen. There's only one unforgivable thing about that film, the sex scene with Leonard Cohen-Hallelujah as the background music is just horrible IMO.

Had to be done: "There was a lot of penis in that film.....":D

so,I ended up watching the watchmen[geddit?] again just now.

I like this montage so much:

It's scored really well for a comic book flick, except that stupid sex scene >.<

I've started watching Comhrá on TG4. It's just an interview where the interviewee talks about their life and what happened. It's really interesting, and some of the stories are very sad. Today, there was a guy on whose wife died and he was left with 8 kids to bring up, and his son died of cancer when he was 17. It was sad, but heart warming at the same time the way he managed to get on with his life and do his best. I highly recommend it.

I've watched this a few times too. As it's mostly ordinary people with extraordinary stories it can be really interesting. I saw one episode with a man who used to be a missionary priest out in Africa then fell in love with a woman and left the priesthood and came back home to live here. That was about forty years ago and it was interesting to hear of all the different reactions he got back then and how attitudes have changed over time.

The theme tune is quite funny, it sounds very suspicious or ominous or somthing! :)

Just watched (500) Days of Summer.

I think I was meant to be happy at the ending but
I couldn't help but feel disappointed that Summer got married to someone else.
