Started my diet around mid Jan. Just really reached a point in my life where I just had to stop the bad habits that had crept in over a three year period.

Anyway, at my heaviest I weighed in at a whopping 16 stone. Which for a guy that is 5' 6" was really too heavy. It was like a switch just flicked in my head, I just didn’t want to feel so bad any longer. Well I have managed to shed almost 3 stone by means of purely solid exercise and healthy eating.

Out went Cheese, White Bread, Butter, Potatoes, Pasta, Mayo and the like.

In came, Porridge, Fruit, Brown Bread, Cottage Cheese, Fish, Salad (Loads of Salad!).

Porridge is the foundation upon which I have been able to maintain my diet. It really does set you up for the day.

For exercise I have an exercise bike. Started doing around 30 mins on my bike. Jesus it was hard starting off.

But now I am doing 50kms a day four times a week. It takes me about70 mins to cover that distance and it really works me out.

My ideal weight would be 11.5 Stone. I am at present 13.2stone so I am loosing about 1kg to 1.5kg every week for the last month.

The best thing about it is I can now fit into clothes that I haven’t got into in over two years. Have loads of energy in the morning thanks to the porridge.

Some pics below to illustrate my progress...

I am grateful to my missus for putting up with me these past few months! Without her guidance I wouldn’t be where I am today...

    Well done,
You took the first step by choosing to change your diet and bringing in exercise.
I have some experience in this area and too many times I have seen people return to their old weight,I am not trying to scare you just give a little advice.
It is imperative to maintain the exercise program, vary your current program now as you have been using it over 8wks your body will get used to it and start to work less.
I think you should throw in a weights program and look to do a high intensity interval program once or twice a week this has been proven to burn 9-10 times as much fat as a normal cardio program over a recorded time and also it is a shorter exercise to do.
Weights will tone up your muscles and burn fat in the process, the first big gains of weight loss are predominately water loss and people often put it back on unless they stick to a balanced diet and exercise program.
I praise you for your current progress and I think you can target the core fat with high intensity training and supersets.
Check out this free site exrx.net ,its an american site with all free info on exercise training.
Well done and keep up the good work

Thanks very much for the tips. Yeah, I have been meaning to introduce weights into my excersise plan. I was going to kick it in after I had shed the first 3 stone. I suppose I will get going on that next week.

What weights should I be looking to buy? I only have a couple of dumbells at the moment.

Thanks for the link to the website also, I will check it out.

You don't need anymore weights if you have dumbells they are perfect for training.
Try and aim for a full body workout split between days,a beginners level first then increase your weights.
It's great fun once you progress, keep your training interesting and enjoyable.
Try not to do over 40mins in any one session, stretch well and keep learning.
The net is a great aid to your goals and I am sure this will be a positive year for your training, keep us posted in 3mths how ya get on,best of luck mate.

Fair play to ya OP. Very very good results there. Keep it up and when you get to your perfect weight, if you are not there already, remember to not relapse back to the bad habbits. That's the hardest part I find.
