I too might be in, would be happier with a value closer to 100km though...I like that route, is there a coffee stop?

Are those routes not a bit long for the day before racing?

Only if you plan to race, I think they are just fine for the day before a club spin :)

wanna get some distance in this weekend, racing on sunday where i've to drive to the race does seem to really limit total weekend distance quite a lot....i think i only did 90 - 100km last weekend...

So racing is getting in the way of training (for racing)?

    Does that makes sense?

not a whole lot i'll accept, but until the end of this month i won't have all the mid-week free time i want to do other spins/training so can devote more time to racing.

I wouldn't if you were racing but not sure with the course and reputation that I'm all that keen on Bohermeen. With the last three races in the space of 5 days my legs are feeling a bit tired for the first time in a long while.

met.ie and wunderground.com see potential rain in the East (that's us) clearing through the morning.

might slow you down enough so your not waiting too long for us on the flat so ;)

Would be on for something, don't mind the route and happy enough with a late morning start.

    ouch :/

Right added a poll for people's preference, the winner is the leader come 22:00 (ignoring any votes off people who arn't coming naturally..).

Flat spin to leave from pope's cross @ 12, hilly to leave from dundrum at same.

    Any objections to midday departure?

Be up for a wicklow spin.

No one interested in an early one from Dundrum? Getting soft lads? It's going to be mucky n wet anyway.
8am.? Not hanging round till midday.
8am., 4 hours, back for midday spin?
    :)

I've a cold but still wanna head out. It'd have to be flat though being under the weather and all that.

I would be ok for 8am from Dundrum. Might go on a bit further though. 400km Fleche coming up Easter Weekend - need some more miles, and can't get out Sunday !

I'm sure Nietzschean could be persuaded to head out earlier with us? ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,111 ✭✭✭joker77

I'd planned on heading to Laragh tomorrow, leaving from Dundrum around 9 - 9.30.
If the hilly spin wins and people are leaving in the morning instead of midday, I'm in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

could we compromise on the traditional 10am from dundrum?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,314 ✭✭✭Nietzschean

    Hilly spin in wicklow
i'm fairly easy on time as i said, blorg's compromise time?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

If people are planning a 200k would not be averse to 8-9am. Need to know soon though. Not on for 8am unless we are staying out till (near) sunset.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,510 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

Yeah I can do any time really, would prefer 9 over 10 but either one is more appealing than a 12 am start, just a bit too late in the day for me.

Don't know about "people" but I'm hoping to do around the 200 mark. If you lot end up going later than 8, I'll leave you to it and go on me todd (at 7 if I wake up !).

How about a new compromise of 8:30 Dundrum? 200km around Wicklow.

what sort of 200km in wicklow, your idea of 200km in wicklow i think might scare me this early in the year...

eh sure fúck it, 200km, 8:30, sounds good to me, can always head back after blorg breaks me ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

830 at Joe Daly's then, I can assure you I don't plan on breaking anyone. I would suggest this will be a fast paced spin, along the lines of a typical audax.

What route are you heading lads? (I wouldn't be able for 200 yet, but might start and drop off midway)

ah bloody hell lads, I was reading this (half cut) and had summarised in my own head. 10a.m, 100km, few hills, yeah but no.

And now it's 8.30 and we'll see you some time Sunday.

OK then, roughly which direction - Enniskerry onto Laragh, or a.n.other?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

I was thinking we might do last year's W200 route?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,581 ✭✭✭uberwolf

right. I'm hitting the sack. I'm on the bike at a reasonable hour tomorrow. This see's me back in time for the rugby, post a 3 - 4 hour spin. (and post the mild hangover which is in store)

I look forward to the posts settling on a time and route.

I'm thinking something quite flat, Bunclody and back. Stop for tea in Bunclody.

See you at 8:30 at Joe Daly's!

No complaints here :) first 200 of the year don't need to be killing myself on SM and SE after 140km...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,995 ✭✭✭✭blorg

There are still some hills. If we are feeling good in Bunclody, Mount Leinster is a possible diversion.

Wexford, it's on the map I linked. Mount Leinster is about a 16km detour from there if we do that.

    Co.Wexford.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,510 ✭✭✭✭DirkVoodoo

I'll leave this till the morning and see how things are, I'm not really too keen on a flat spin to Wexford. Might go as far as Rathdrum and then back.
