Jedward dropped by record label
Jedward have been dropped by their record company Sony after the performance of their debut single disappointed bosses.

The pair's first release 'Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby)' - a collaboration with rapper Vanilla Ice - reached number one in Ireland but only managed to enter the UK chart at number two last month.

A Sony source told The Sun: "We tried our best to make the lads credible recording artists but punters just weren't that bothered.

Advertisement"They are great lads but haven't got the greatest voices, so they're something to see rather than listen to.

"Record companies are going through major upheaval so we have to be very careful what we throw our weight behind. I'm sure Jedward will be able to make a buck touring as a novelty act."

John & Edward's manager Louis Walsh insisted that he remains completely committed to the twins.

He said: "The boys have a sell-out tour in Ireland straight after 'The X Factor' tour in April and I'm in talks with a major record label about a new deal for them."

hahahaha :D:D this brought a smile to my face. glad not everyone in the music biz is a retard. whats even more hilarious is Louis Walsh still persisting with these TALENTLESS idiots.

and when i say anything about them people call me a begrudger.

they're a pair of simple cnuts and i think it's hilarious that they aren't in on the joke.

"Sell out tour in Ireland". There's a lot of money in gigs, even medium size ones. I'm sure Louis Walsh isn't splitting the profits 50/50. I'd say Jedward will get a little pocket money but Louis will make it worth his while. I can't fault Louis Walsh a business man.

We don't need someone to deny Jedward a record deal, we need them to deny them oxygen.

Louis won't give up on them as long as he gets to pocket 80% of the profits for their live appearances - which should last for about another 3 months before they have to go back and do the Leaving Cert and go to college and forever get slagged for their 15 minutes of fame.

Louis Walsh is a smart guy. My take on this is that Jedward were signed up by Sony for the Vanilla Ice single, a one record deal. That deal has now expired. Note that there are no official quotes from Sony and Walsh doesn't refer to the Sony deal at all. It's great publicity for the lads, as proved by this thread and the hundreds more on other forums, not to mention twitter.

Well done Louis.

They should try my motto "If at first you don't succeed, give up".

They'll disappear into oblivion with a sh1tload of cash and lifelong delusions.

Only number two in the charts? What a blow to their ego! The Sex Pistols sold in excess of 250,000 copies of God Save The Queen and only reached number two. Would Jedward have sold a tenth of that amount?

Nature of the beast - even if you win that show you´re doing well if you get two years out it.

They´ll probably always have a secure fanbase in Ireland, but at some point, the bubble will burst and people who have no national ties to them won´t see the only real marketing point that they have.

Best of lucks lads, but keep it simple and you won´t be disappointed.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I'd hazard a guess that Louis Walsh has more expertise in this field than you. Just a hunch.

Louis Walsh is just exploiting them for his own monetary gain. You dont actually think Louis believes they can sing do you ??

I doubt they'll end up with that much money. They'll get a little from the X Factor tour and some from their own, but manufactured acts like this don't earn a whole lot, especially starting out. Most of the money will go on songwriters, royalties, managers etc... They'll have some nice pocket money for college but not much more i'd reckon.

They haven't that much of a brain for business. Dropped for getting to number 2? Seriously? There's a bit more cash to be sucked from these clowns yet.

not credible artists... punters werent bothered...

It says alot for the state of the music industry if this pair got to number 2 in the UK and Number 1 in Ireland, but sony still considers them not credible as artists.

I think some of us are over-reacting here to be honest.
We have two young lads that are having a bit of fun (fair play!) and doing a little with the talent (or lack of) they have.
They are creating entertainment for some, helping to employ others, creating a smiles on a lot of faces and so, so on.

Ok, they might be an irritating pain in the ass to some, but to say "lets starve them of oxygen" and wish to see them burn in hell, etc bla.. bla.. is just pure daft!
Get a sense of reality folks.

If you want to starve someone of air, make sure its a rapist or murderer - not two lads having a bit of CLEAN and SAFE innocent fun!
Say about how rubbish they might be but lets keep a perspective!

Channel that larger outrage and anger at something more damaging to our country.
Lord knows, there is a building in Dublin where you could start on with more useless muppets in it!

Reality lads/lassies - reality!

• Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

Yeah, I think they're rubbish but I don't get why people let them bother themselves so much.

Exactly, find them irritating? Flip the channel or even better turn them off.
...And move on with your life!

They just need something new. Every since the x-factor they've been clinging on to that ice-ice-baby stuff for as long as they can.

They are tied to an X-factor contract till the end of March so after that, I'm sure they will dump the irritating stuff a little and go a direction Louis might suggest or is already setting up.

To be fair Jedward were never going to have any amount of longevity, one top 10 single then maybe another couple in the top 30 before fading into obscurity. The simple fact is acts like Jedward get forgotten about very quickly and Sony knew this. Sony got their Irish number 1/Uk number 2 and now they are dumping them.

Given the number of songs these two have murdered, i think they satisfy your definition of being worthy of having their air supply cut off.

People get so annoyed about things that really don't matter.

Take a leaf outta my book kids and chill out, just relax and save your energy and hatred for important things like cyclists who won't dismount on pedestrian bridges.

How f*cked is the music biz that an act can be dropped after a number two single in the UK Charts.

I hope Jedward now go away and die.

It does seem weird. I think there is more to this than meets the eye. It got the number 2 spot in the charts and they got dropped.

I dont hope they go and die, I hope they go on to have a multi-million pound career, so that sony can say to themselves "Hmm, maybe we were a bit hasty..."

Yea, also helping in even a little way to employ people thru entertainment at these times is such a bad thing!

Dear gawd, so much for proper perspectives! Lets start lighting torches and behaving like grunting vicious animals instead.

Ok,I dont really give a fcuk about those two little trolls, they aint on my radar, hav'nt read a tabloid in donkeys years, dont watch Exposé or any such mind numbing garbage...

My point is,not every light hearted (well, violently light hearted) thread can be traced back to the bleedin' recession...I well know that there are much bigger things going on,that cnut in charge of the church in this country for one,but people like to talk about cr@p ,its needed sometimes...

My 2 cents...

* If they aren't on your radar and don't give a fcuk, why comment?
* If you don't read a tabloid, etc how do you know about them enough to call them "trolls?"
* Why bother read about them in this thread - even enter and continue on in this thread if you don't give a sugar about them?

You say one thing but your words and actions say different - strange that!

...Just my two cents worth.

Yes, there are worse things going on and yes, they need to be talked about more so.
People need sometime to talk "crap", very true but within a sense of reality - not starving two young boys of air!
Thats MY point too!

I wouldn't count these two out just yet. Mark my words they'll be co-hosting the Late Late Show in 10 years time. Ireland has produced Boyzone and Westlife (Who not only can't sing, can't dance, but they are proud that they don't write their own songs, have a shamefully slow workpace and seem to have a personality bypass). Not only that but we have amassed a slew of it-girls, celebrity journalists and other such non- entities and risen them the status of demi-god. Why would any youngster out there work hard at a craft when all it takes to hit the big time in this country is a dodgy haircut and a brass neck. We reward uselessness and Jedward are the natural progression of our behaviour. Shame on us!!!

It doesn't take that many to get #2 (or indeed #1) outside of Christmas AFAIK and lets be honest how many more similarly performing singles could these two put out, given that they are unburdened by either talent or charm.

Sony were right to drop them, i can't see them being around for much longer.
