Anyone out there care to recommend a good value, cheap treadmill?

I hope to start running at home as it is not ideal for me to be on the roads where i live. I would like to spend between 2 and 3 hundred on a treadmill that will hopefully be reliable.

I am hoping to run 45mins 4 times a wk.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

I think if you can, even travel a bit, run on the roads, grass, sand if possible, it's much better for you.

I believe that the cheaper treadmills aren't worth it to be honest. I think they are 'manual' belt driven jobs and I'd say wouldnt be great on the legs/shins. If you can, hunt for a decent second hand electric treadmill or even a proper x-trainer.

I was in the same boat as yourself a few months ago. I was a bit embarrassed to be seen out huffing & puffing!
I looked up everything about threadmill, I mean everything!!! I'm anal when it comes to purchases!
Long story short, save your cash even tm worth 1500 are crap! They will break and or cause issues, manual tm's are a joke. When you're running you get a nice cool breeze, good air.

Take the plunge, get out on the road/footpath. I used nike + to calcualte a 1Km lap from my house. I started running + walking + huffing/puffing around 10:30pm for 3K after a week I was running the whole distance. I do 5K 3 times a week in just over/under 23mins now, not great but not bad either, I keep it to 3 days cos I'm in a bulking phaze, I'll be doing 5 runs a week from april to cut up, then back to bulking.

With a good diet and 5 5K runs you'll be a weight losing machine. I lost a serious amount of weight pretty fast through diet & exercise. Dropped down to 11'10 -currently 12'6 but pretty lean.

I recently tried a treadmill in the gym and man it's so boring/hot/sweaty/annoying crap!
put on yer ipod buy the nike + gear (well worth it!) and program in 3Km, then run/walk the distance.
In no time you'll be up and running, looking good, feeling good and not giving a toss about the walking posse.

You will not find a reliable treadmill for 2-300 , I would strongly advise not buying a 2nd hand home treadmill, you don't know what type of life it has had and 90% of them you will not be able to get parts for if they break.
If you do really want a treadmill - as it is not always feasible to run out side , I would advise saving up some money and buy a 2nd hand Commercial machine, you would pick one up for about €1000 (starting price).
