    Hi there,

Can anyone suggest where I could get good protein bars cheaply? On the net or otherwise?

    Thanks.

    try these,
    http://www.myprotein.co.uk/mp-max/protein-flapjacks/protein-flapjack/

They recently reduced the price and I've used them a few times, quite nice.

Cheapest I've found anyway, net or otherwise.

I'm wondering about protein bars as a post work out fuel.

I'm currently only finishing a work out at approx 9.40pm after which I'd have a shake and a small bit to eat i.e. couple of boiled eggs & toast/tuna mix/penutbutter sarnie etc.

Could a protein bar be a decent replacement for both shake and food?

What I'm wondering also. It's the convenience of it really. Can be consumed immediately after the workout and, as they seem to be quite heavy, fills a hole in the stomach.

I've never used them post work out, you would be better off with a shake or whole food but if you're stuck then I suppose its better than nothing.

They are really handy and heavy/dense enough to fill you as you say.

    Found this in Boots

Boots' own brand called 'Body Build'. It's free from hydrogenated fats, artificial flavours and colours and it's €2.49. The nutritional info is as follows.

Typical Values per 100g (bar is 50g)

    Energy 315 kcal
    Protein 40g
    Carbs (sugars) 21g (17g)
    Fat (saturates) 7g (4.8g)
    Fibre 6g
    Sodium 0.3g
    Equivalent as Salt 0.7g

It's chocolate and strawberry flavoured. The taste is ok.

If anyone finds a better bar out there please post the details.

I think someone posted a recipe for flapjacks with protein and such, actually, IIRC there is a fitness recipes thread somewhere.

I only looked in here cos I was curious about what ye were on about.
